“Since 1955, Loes Veenstra knitted over 500 sweaters and stored them in her home on the 2nd Carnissestraat in Rotterdam. The sweaters have never been worn. Until today.
The sweaters are all presented in a book called "Het Verzameld Breiwerk van Loes Veenstra uit de 2e Carnissestraat" designed by Christien Meindertsma, published by Stichting Kunstimplantaat.”
I find this video compelling as a form of design activism, the fact that the jumpers worn by the people in this flash mob took over half a century to make and are being showcased here in this way is a beautiful example of design activism. It shows that it can be fun and bright, involving the community and inspiring people, just like me, who had no contact to the event but finds it beautiful to watch and an effortlessly simple example of how design activism can be showcased in creative outlets.
