I think now after going around with a bare head it is time to reflect on what to do and what not to do. Iām almost over the gaping stare reactions. Sometimes I even get a secret āright on sisterā smile from passers by, mainly women older than me. Maybe reflecting on bra burning rĆødstrĆømper days. Anyway, I keep my interpretations the way I want them to be. I sure hope people aren't smiling because they think I deserve this.
Thereās still more head stubble falling out, as my pillow tells me, so I guess eventually I will have a smooth pate (not to be confused with pĆ¢tĆ©). Given the state of our weather these days, which is to say, sunny fabulous, I have been conscious about whether one should put sunscreen on a bald head. It is an extension of oneās face and having not fully seen the sun, it should be protected. I tried to use my daily moisturizer with factor 20 as normal sunscreen seemed a bit thick to me. Unfortunately, I developed a bit of folliculitis on my head. Plugged pores perhaps? Tea tree oil helped with that.
Thereās also this bit about washing. Shampoo or facial cleanser? Googling didnāt help much there, only to say I should keep my scalp clean indeed with a mild shampoo and be gentle to it. Funny I should still consider shampoo. My son seems to be convinced we should not shampoo too much because it strips the natural hair oils. Hard to do if one is engaged in hot yoga. I donāt see that coming.
What surprised me the most were many discussions among BC gals about using Johnson and Johnsonās baby shampoo! Hulloā¦have we forgotten the reformulation/formaldehyde/cancer issue?
Maybe I am a bit paranoid, but I donāt need to add yet another chemical to my already toxic profile. Trying to go as simple as I can. Simple is good.
