#breaking queue

After my friend gave me her Netflix info, I decided to hold off watching until Endgame was near so that if I had the same reaction as other people, I wouldn’t have to wait super long to have my troubles resolved. 

And I’ve seen so many posts that are like “omg lesbian hero Thor is so smart. Look how deep and intelligent he is in Infinity War”. So many of these examples already felt off, but now seeing them in context? I’m sorry, Thor sounds even more like a bumbling idiot than he did in Thor 1. Sounds like an 11-year-old trying to be #deep.

Like the “all words are made up” line. How does that sound smart? How does that sound deep? In any way? It doesn’t. He sounds like me when I’m mad at someone for insulting me and I can’t think of a smart comeback. He sounds stupid.

Then there’s the “oh, he knows Midgardian words! He used morons in the correct way!” First off, that’s a low standard of intelligence. Wow, he can use a word, I’m so amazed. I know a handful of words from languages I don’t speak, should I apply for a full-ride scholarship to Harvard? Secondly, I just watched Rocket call the guardians morons for like 2 minutes straight. THOR IS LITERALLY JUST REPEATING HIM! He just learned the meaning of the word just now through context! Even then, sounded a lot like he didn’t process fully that it was an insult!

I really don’t understand how people prefer this Thor over the old one except by inserting concepts like “lesbian ruler” on him and going “oh ehm gee Chris Hemsworth so hot”. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I won’t dare say that those people are wrong. I’m clearly in a minority here of preferring the old Thor. But I just...don’t see it! He’s dumber, he no longer fits the mold of everything that makes an Asgardian who they are except for by blood, it feels like CH is trying way too hard to be likable instead of doing his job and playing his role, etc.

Maybe I’m just tired or in a sour mood or something, but this movie just feels like...it’s just trying way too hard. Which is partially natural with a budget of this size. They need success. But it feels like it’s trying to throw me on an emotional rollercoaster and like...45 minutes in? Loki’s death felt gross and unnecessary. I think I was supposed to laugh at Banner struggling to summon Hulk? Got jumpscared by Vision being sad. And I got my first gag-worthy glimpse of them framing Thanos as a good guy even though he’s an abusive, genocidal thumb.
