Aloha, all! Here's my latest Generation Gap comic strip featured in The Hawai‘i Herald • A lot of us think of breakfast as bacon, eggs, toast, etc. Years ago, when I was in Japan, we had a "traditional Japanese" breakfast also called "wachoushoku," which consisted of several dishes: Salted salmon, miso soup, rice, tamagoyaki (rolled egg omelet), tofu, and hot tea. It also included natto, pickled vegetables, and seaweed salads. The importance is the balance of the meal and isn't intended to make you feel heavy as breakfast is an important meal (as opposed to the schoolgirl dashing out of the house with a piece of toast dangling from their mouth as they race to school because they're late). •(For the record, as a kid, I destroyed a frying pan by trying to cook eggs without adding any oil, so it stuck to the pan and wouldn't come off! - this was YEARS before non-stick pans) •Hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy Mother's Day! Keep smiling and stay safe 😊 #jonjmurakami #mothersday #breakfestinbed #comic #comicstrip #cartoon #generationgap #japanesebreakfast https://www.instagram.com/p/CdOZYFHpxBK/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
