So for Gus to be able to pull off a surprise birthday party, he was going to need some help from more of Onix's friends. He managed to call both Hopper & Ghost into the secret gardens to explain all he & Twinkie had planned out for the occasion. It didn't take the trio long to start getting together the set up for Onix's party as well as get more help.
Now, as Gus promised to his sister, he wouldn't tell everyone the reason as to why she hadn't celebrated her birthday upon being there. It was a pretty deep reason after all, so whenever somebody asked, he just explained that he had no idea why, & that all that Onix told him was the date. Luckily not too many of her friends were too curious about the reason, they were more focused on the preparations than anything else.😄
