bradaric replied to your post: kimball is a stupid name she is vanessa as of...
Kimball is a last name. I’m willing to accept Vanessa as a canon first name so long as it doesn’t get contradicted by Miles or Burnie though. ‘tis a good name :P
felix literally referred to her as vanessa kimball

A group of Arizona politicians — all Republicans, of course — have proposed a law (House Bill 2467) requiring public high school students to recite the following oath in order to graduate:
I, _______, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge these duties; So help me God.

Thank you to bradaric for bringing this up. I've been following this for the last day or so. The headline is a bit of a hyperbole, as the bill doesn't single out atheists as being ineligible for graduation specifically. Still, to be atheist and to get your diploma, this bill would require that you lie under oath...not really an acceptable option.
The bill is blatant pandering to false patriotism and will almost certainly get thrown out by the legal system even if it does manage to pass. It certainly speaks to the mindlessness of the Republicans who proposed it.
Dang it. I thought Arizona was up for succession! What are they waiting for?
