I claim it’s his happiest place: bounding around… but maybe it’s mine too.
I KNOW !! ITS A VIDEO IM SORRY!!
Just saying “we are working on casting again :)” is not enough!
Little snippet now that we have been inching back into HRC training. Fred is running lots of retrieves and even more taxing things and is continuing to have no issues with lameness — just stamina from being out of work so long.
Here is Fred doing a “Back” and “Over” (cast Right). Though we use the words “push” and “away” because the normal cues have different meanings in our trick work!
His whistle sit is soooo reliable and his casting is prob 75+% reliable but we aren’t asking for much yet! Pretty solid at even doing left vs right backs (turns over left or right shoulder from stop depending on the hand I raise).
Right now I’m just working on really clean overs and building distance on the backs.
That being said, next on the list is revisiting the whistle stop itself so we don’t have as big of an arc when he stops. Not sure if this is due to possible compensation or just habit that we’ve accrued. He always turns to the right to stop which would have him pivoting on the right front (LF was one with soft tissue injury).
Keeping an eye on it and him, as always. Vet says we are good to keep on pushing!
Some Freds from this morning’s group training. He ran some lovely marks and rocked getting back into long, driving pile work games to build momentum.
Reward via play (flirtpole and personal), plus a chicken heart here and there. No Force Fetch nonsense here! :)
Also: Ajax’s mom is letting me train his whistle stops and he’s made lovely progress over the last couple weeks!
This one might go in the Fred Pics Hall of Fame. 🤎
My love, my love, my love.

dog owners looking like their dogs final boss
Fred catching the treat vs. Fred missing the treat.
Snagged this handsome man from a local rescue for some found family!
His name is Ripley and I am sure he will be visiting more.
