Thank you, Jon, for great review. #Repost @meademule (@get_repost) ・・・ Tonight I’m drinking a tasty store pick single barrel version of Elijah Craig, bottled for @elixirspirits in Spring Hill, TN. Although Elijah Craig Small Batch has lost its age statement (used to be 12 years), this particular barrel was aged 13 years before being bottled at 94 proof. ________ The nose of this one is filled with chocolate malt and fresh baked goods. The palate has notes of toffee, vanilla mint, oak, chocolate, maple syrup, tropical fruits, apricot, baked cinnamon apples, and creamy vanilla pudding. The finish is a nice minty and woody vanilla, fairly dry, with lingering oak. ________ This is a significant step up from the regular Elijah Craig Small Batch (for the same price!). It’s almost like a toned down version of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof, which is one of my favorite bourbons. For fun, I did a side by side of this with Batch B517 of ECBP. I watered the ECBP down to about 94 proof (which I wouldn’t normally do), and then tasted them both. They were fairly close. I get a lot of raisins in B517, which set set it apart, along with bigger chocolate notes. But I could certainly see the family resemblance, and a lot of similar notes. ________ Bottom line: This is a terrific bottle of bourbon at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended. Elixir has had a lot of excellent store picks lately, and this one is no exception. Also, you’ll never meet a friendlier guy in the spirits business than Tarak. Go pay Elixir a visit if you’re anywhere close to Middle TN. #bourbonfound #30daysofbourbon #bourbonheritagemonth #whiskeywednesday #whiskywednesday #elijahcraig (at Elixir Spirits)
