my friend @mckenicalromance and i were at school chillin outside when we found a moth under a tree. it wasn’t moving and we totally thought it was dead, but then i picked it up to get a good pic for inaturalist and it MOVED. that’s when we realized it was alive and i recognized that it was too wet from a fog cloud that had rolled in, so i let it sit on me to dry off and warm up, then i put it in a tree to be safe (it flew down into the rocks but i left it there bc clearly that’s where it wanted to be). then MERE SECONDS LATER, as we were walking back inside, what do we find? a HURT BABY BUNNY.

mckenna had moved to pet him and he barely moved, we both realized this wasn’t normal so after quite a bit of anxious conversation, i sprinted to the grocery store as she held him and bought a tupperware to poke holes in and keep him safe while she did choir. we realized that the cut on his tummy was clotted but not scabbed, indicating that it had happened less than 24 hours ago, and that it was likely caused by a shard of something sharp nicking him (i recognized the shape (triangular with a flap of skin), bc ive accidentally done very similar things to my arms while whittling), and that his condition was serious but not an immediate emergency. he also had calcified hairs, meaning that unfortunately his mother was likely dead. we named him Radish and i believe he’s currently at the vet with mckenna
