Bottomless blue-black

One pool after another, after another after another

Tiring, exhausting, pointless, time consuming

When I’m needed, let me know

Used to be a clear, deep spring, full to the brim

But never overbearing

Clear, pure memories

Fresh and cool

Bubble to the surface

 Now a deep, stagnant pool

Choked with weeds, choking, pulling

Trying to drown whoever flounders

Into their murky, black depths

Seaweed pulling on spindly legs

Of the weakling in your mind

The weakling you’ve become

Unconscious frowns

On your once youthful face

 The pool is stagnant again

Memories have finally stopped

Water suddenly swirls away

Sucked in by some filter

Deep blue

Generic memories

Not happy or sad

Not euphoric or horrific

The haze is lifting

 The muck is clearing

The weeds cannot pull

On the strong legs

Well built, on which you stand

Stronger now

A small smile

Quiet and unimposing

The water pulls harder

More bubbles fill the pool

 Deep blue

Light sea green

Aquamarine

Clear

Deep clear spring

Alive again

Lilies on the surface

Bubbles into smiles
