IT’S NOT HER FIGHT -- it’s got nothing to do with her. she’ll keep repeating that in her head over && over until it makes any kind of sense to her heart. the brain’s got it, sure, but the heart -- she’s a different, stupid story. just blow through, ashe, leave him to his own fights. he can handle it && you don’t owe him a goddamn thing anymore. not anymore.
&& yet the sounds of gunfire pierce through louder than her brain telling her to mind her own business. she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time -- she had business elsewhere, needed to meet with her gang -- but she ultimately gives in. he’s pinned. she’s not sure if she heard a noise in pain or if her brain made it up just to give her a reason to buckle in the end.
either way, she’s there, viper drawn as she aims down the sights -- a surprise shot from her position on the outside that takes out one of the heavier shooters with a good pick on who she wanted out. && she ducks under cover, running to meet him as she reloads a bullet into the chamber with a quick single handed grip of the lever.
❝ ugh, what’d you get yerself into this time, jesse? ❞
god, she wonders if he’d do the same for her anymore. her heart aches thinking about the worst possible outcome -- because it’s all she can think of when it comes to the thought of people abandoning her: of course they always will. why was she even doing this?
