To Wear or Not to Wear: Statement Necklace
A statement necklace is another staple that can be woven throughout your wardrobe. Statement necklaces were reintroduced in 2010 and have not left center stage yet. Designers are weaving necklaces right into tops and blouses, from J Crew to JC Penney. Statement necklaces can dress up the most boring blouse in your closet. There are too many retailers to count who offer affordable options. Ornate jewelry may seem too very old school and remind you of your grandmother’s jewelry, but given the proper canvas can transform your outfit from okay to “werk it” material! I prefer costume jewelry. I do not have to worry about cleaning it or insuring it! It is easy to throw on and go.
When choosing a statement necklace, pick a color that you would never wear. Those are usually the most fun and work well. For instance, I was not a fan of peach or pastels and downright refused to wear it. (I feel so silly saying that now.) However I saw one of those expensive J Crew necklaces on sale and an additional 30% off. Price came down to $66. I tried it on; boy was it perfection and love at first sight. I wear that necklace at least once per week! I included a shot of it in the photo gallery. Did you spot it?It goes from über casual to chic to work. Pastels can work in any season. Pair with an Oxford, a plain white t-shirt, or a bow blouse. You can truly be creative without being over the top. If you wanna tone a down a tad, wear a bright red lip and only a whisk of mascara. That clean, fresh face works well with the ornate nature of the necklace. Think those J Crew ads, just with a woman with actual curves.
Check out a few statement necklaces I found online today! Would you buy any of these? What is the most you’ve spent on statement jewelry?

Jewel Love It - Collar Scholar

Or pair a collar with a simple LBD to completely transform the dress into something new every time. Some of these great collar necklaces are almost too gorgeous to wear. Do you have a favorite?
