hot take, elend and adolin are two sides of the same coin. someone else elaborate because i don't know where i'm going with this but i do think i'm right

#I keep seeing posts hating on them #and I do understand why #....but I also really like elend. I think the end of adolin's arc is really mishandled #but elend does genuinely see skaa as real people pretty much as soon as he starts being in situations where he's allowed to #like I don't know if you can expect someone who was literally brought up being told by EVERYONE that the skaa aren't actually people to -#- instantly think of them as people. but elend really does and that's why I like him. and adolin's arc tries to do the same thing.#yet in his case this inevitably fails because Sanderson refuses to address lighteyes oppression past a certain point in SLA #... anyways. in the end this is a white person's opinion of a white person's book so I'm sure that's part of why I'm so inclined to like -#both characters #but yeah #no matter your opinion on adolin and elend I think they are very similar character archetypes #they fill very similar roles #cosmere #stormlight archive #adolin kholin #mistborn #elend venture

GLUTTONY - A time my muse spent too much money, time, or effort on something that was fruitless or materialistic.

Here I answered for the other blog, not realizing, SO-Jak: I don’t…think she has. If she thinks something might be fruitless for her, she won’t do it/pursue it. If it’s materialistic, sure…she loves her goodies. But spend too much? Not yet - she’s been living off scraps for so long, and has only been flush with gil for some…9 months? And she’s still in the mentality of being wise with her funds, lest something terrible and unexpected happen and she’s not prepared. Lily: Her whole life, basically, has been spent on one fruitless endeavor after another. She’s spent years trying to win the love/affection of people around her, only to find that you can try a little too hard to please everyone, and end up souring things with all the people you loved. Things happened early on in her life that left her with…some need to earn respect from those she looks up to, and these days she’s actually a lot better about it…but! She lives alone with her best friend and child in the Plaguelands out near Light’s Hope, now, because she’s basically friend-less, otherwise, after all the poor life decisions she’s made. Ruff life!
