Flamingo Jones aka Nicholas Bond hails from Melbourne and has been making waves with his fresh, vibrant and tropical debut releases, Botanic Animal and Skinny D.I.P. With a sound familiar to that of Animal Collective, Panda Bear, Yeasayer and Vampire Weekend it would be hard to restrain from blaring out the works of Flamingo Jones on a hot summers day. Botanic Animal is filled with twinkling guitars and textural sounds provided through animal samples and synths, which work nicely. Nicholas Bond's vocals don’t demand centre stage in the way that Panda Bear does, however this works nicely with the flow of the track. Skinny D.I.P. is layered with the most colourful samples and bright steel drum patterns. There is a samba-esque shuffle to the sound, making it as upbeat as you could imagine.
