My last photo shoot with interior designer @danitbenari of Interior Transformations. We spent a day shooting inside this modern home with a lot of space and great artwork. It’s all about making the home look as naturally lit as possible. 🔸 This image was composited from eleven other pictures. I used a black cloth to cover the artwork on the left to remove reflections and the other one on the stairway didn’t exist. I ended up using that piece from another image. There were six strobes I used for this, all tucked in different corners. I evened out the exposure with a curves and brightness adjustment. Play time! Fun for children of all kinds in this room. Shot for @georgantas.design and @georgantas.development. This was a straightforward lighting setup. I used two @elinchrom_ltd strobes with my @nikonusa D800. One bouncing behind the camera and one on the left with a wide @photekusa umbrella. The trick was in the styling. Trying to keep that giraffe’s head up to look at the camera, smoothing out the carpet and minimizing reflection in the iridescent disc on the top left. Is your office this clean? Mine might be as clean, but certainly a lot more messy. After walking down the hallway from the living room in the previous post, you’ll find this simple, clean and elegant office. My mother had the same roll-top style desk which was a nice throwback for me. 🔸 I can thank @wizard0woz for the great job in styling and remembering where everything went after we re-arranged. I shot this with a dragged shutter and one strobe bouncing in the right corner behind the door, just tucked out of the frame. In order to put strobes where they need to be, sometimes light stand legs get in the frame that I need to remove in @photoshop. You’d never know to what extent the leg was sticking into the frame here, but it was very apparent! With my 11+ years of retouching interiors it’s like second nature. Did you see the view from the previous post? This is the living from it. I shot this with a four light setup. One strobe bouncing off the ceiling in the front entranceway, one from the left with a large photek umbrella to mimic sunlight, one bouncing behind the camera off the ceiling for fill and the last strobe is bouncing in the room on the left to match exposure. 🔸 Natural light is great, but you’re forced to deal with blending colors and a lack of direction and contrast. I like to start with where the light naturally falls and then add or remove light from there. I still shoot 20-50 frames per scene so I have options in post-production, but I aim for getting it right in camera as much as possible.
