Thomas P. Bossert, President Trump’s first homeland security adviser, said he was “deeply disturbed” that Mr. Trump had urged Ukraine to investigate Democrats.
Before Trump was inaugurated, U.S. intelligence agencies briefed him on Russia’s election interference. As we know, Trump didn’t believe them, and instead asked questions about a conspiracy theory that Ukraine had hacked the DNC’s computers and then framed Russia, “possibly at the behest of Democratic operatives.” His Homeland Security Adviser, Thomas P. Bossert, explained that the theory was “without merit.”
In February of 2017, the director of the National Security Agency, Mike Rogers, explained to Trump--again, and in detail--that Ukraine had not hacked the DNC and did not have a DNC computer server. The conspiracy theory was “completely debunked.”
Which naturally explains why, when Trump spoke on the telephone with the President of Ukraine 2½ years later, Trump asked him as a “favor” to investigate that completely debunked conspiracy theory.
It is very interesting to me that Tom Bossert, who was previously TV-prez's Homeland Security Advisor, is now speaking out.
He was the only one in that administration that really knew what he was talking about - especially in the tech and digital security areas. I didn't agree with a lot of his politics - but the guy is solid and straightforward, and very knowledgeable.
He tried (unsuccessfully) to get trumpf to stop spreading redonkulous conspiracy theories, because that garbage makes us weaker as a nation.
