The shop wasn’t big, but it was all hers. She chose to ignore the fact that her grandfather might have helped with some of the equipment and setting her up with a decent lease, and ...
None of that mattered, she reminded herself. She might have lost her station at Tat on the Cat--the hottest place to get inked in town--but opening her own place had always been her plan. Getting fired, just brought it about a lot quicker and with more debt than she planned. So, losing her job wasn’t all bad.
She still had her regulars, but Flash Me! Tattoos didn’t have quite the kind of foot traffic that an established place with a rep like The Tat on the Cat could draw. It was clean and neat, if not pristine, and she’d even painted the graffiti beneath the exemplars. She still had yet to get all the art, her art, up on the walls. And the only examples she had at the ready were in the book on the counter.
Furia stood behind the counter with her back to the door, as she drew a switchblade across the top of a box filled with framed examples of her tattoo style. Chewing on her bottom lip in concentration, she moved with the beat of the Latin music filling the shop and sipped at a mug while she unpacked. A hammer and a small box of nails sat on the corner of the table. Clearly, part of her plan for the slow day was to finish up the most important decorations for the shop.
