I genuinely think there's a vast difference between being unmotivated or lazy at your job, versus performing the duties that you are hired to do and not pushing to be more initiative. I don't think ANYBODY who is making under 70k a year should be striving to be the best and to go above and beyond their pay grade and wash someone's feet... you can advance in your career without subjecting yourself to greuling, and oftentimes mentally abusive work. people always think you need to earn your stripes, that you should suffer before you kick back and relax and that you need to be someone's bitch before you can turn the tables and frankly? If you think that then you just have a shitty job? yes, I think good things come to people who are willing to sacrifice time and effort, and those who wish to climb the corporate ladder do achieve these milestones faster than someone who doesn't but bro... doing the job that you are asked to do is enough. you should think about your career growth, and maybe move in the right direction and take the necessary steps that could lead you there but you don't need to be belittled, or feel doubtful about your abilities to do so. this one girl on tiktok was saying that "you're not really doing a good job if your boss has to tell you do something" like yes you are actually? If you have tasks and you do them, and you do them on time and well then you're doing a good job. not everyone NEEDS to be overachieving and desperate you can just consider work as work and do what you're paid to do and go home. simple. so many things in the corporate realm are optics anyways like you staying overtime to create the illusion that you're better than others does not mean you are, and those who constantly try to sell you on that don't actually have a life outside of work and THAT'S why they hate people who do.
