Wow, very sad to hear about the loss of a great space in one of my most beloved cities, Milwaukee... Losing places like the Borg Ward is on my mind a lot lately. One of my favorite spots here in the greater Eastern LA area, and arguably the only legit and consistent place for local young people to be involved with eclectic, DIY-minded music, easily put on/see a show or make new friends has had groups of undercover cops attending for months in hopes of finding a (non-existent) reason to bust it. There are already enough obstacles screwing with DIY spaces to have a 9-year old spot like the Borg Ward go down because of folks who can't respect a place that opens their doors to them trashing and abusing it. Hope the Borg gets a second phase..
I’m sad that Kingmaker is no more and Barrier got cut short because fuck the police, but overall I enjoyed that show a lot. Michigan shows need to step their game up.
