I CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT THIS Y'ALL
Swinging of the Pendulum - A Bangel/Buffy and Dawn and Angel and Dawn Boom comics Fic
https://archiveofourown.org/works/36307369
Summary: Buffy has a new-maybe-sister/new-maybe-Slayer in her life, that she's trying to figure out. And she thinks that talking about that on her date with Angel (because she's finally decided to give him/them a chance) is a sure way to keep them from taking things too fast. It works... for about five minutes. Bangel. Buffy and Dawn. Angel and Dawn. Future fic. Attempted to be canon with the Boom Buffyverse and Boom Angel & Spike verse, but we all know this will go way AU eventually, when we get more updates for those comics. Rated T, imo, but may get closer towards M at the end. Be warned.
Recap: Buffy The Vampire Slayer - Boom Studio Comics Volume 1 - High School is Hell (Includes Issues 1-4)Â Chapter 2
Onto chapter 2. We open with Buffy having a dream. A slayer dream? I donât think so. It think itâs just your classic fears manifesting to you in your dreams.Â
Buffy makes some friends for the first time in a long time, probably the first time since she became a slayer, she probably has been drilled to death by Giles how dangerous being a slayer is. And she is still a 16 year old. Whatâs a 16 year old most afraid of? probably just embarrassing herself and losing her friends. Just in this case it could come with a lot of added complications. In Buffyâs case it could literally mean death.
Itâs also an easy way of showing us how attached she is to Willow and Xander already. She is afraid to lose them, to fail them. And she is afraid of failing Giles.Â
I love that Joyce has a boyfriend!!! I do. So much! Mostly because you know what, Joyce was cool and she deserves some happiness. But also, it looks like such a small change but it could impact so much.
Giles was always a surrogate father to Buffy, in part because of the intense nature of their job together, in part because Buffyâs own dad sucked and there were no other available positive paternal figures.
Iâm sure this wonât affect at all the intensity of Buffyâs and Giles relationship. They live too many things together for a strong bond not to form. But the fact Buffy will have another father figure outside of the slaying world, can be so interesting.Â
I hope he is not evil or something. Please let him not be evil.Â
can I get a 13 for the universes please?
Lucky number 13! You are also in the "Boomverse", dealing with the post-"Boom" - that is, the sudden return of magic - world and all its strangeness. But you are lucky, to a certain extent...
Like many others, you are a civilian of the post-Boom "city" that is Cheyenne Mountain. Pre-Boom, it was the Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, operated as part of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. Post-Boom, it's become a haven for a lot of people.
Definitely the most populous place in this section of the US, Cheyenne Mountain is still run by the Air Force - those who are at the base, anyway - and enjoys such luxuries as electricity, movie and TV show nights, an extensive library, and top-notch security.
It's not quite the same as pre-Boom living, but it's probably the closest you can come. And if the Air Force tends to run things a bit militaristically, well, it's worth it for the safety and comfort, right?

Ah, the "Boomverse" has been popular today! Magic has returned to the world, and technology has taken a few steps backwards. No phones, no lights, no motor cars, you know the drill. But not everyone met this fate entirely unprepared.
You are a citizen of Knighthaven, a walled and well-guarded community. Knighthaven is known for breeding horses as well as, well, meeting the technological limitations of the post-Boom era head on because the vast majority of Knighthaven citizens either are or are related to SCAdians: members of the Society for Creative Anachronism.
Thus the people of Knighthaven already knew how to survive in a world without cellphones, internet, and even electricity. They already had a structure to build a society around, and a wide variety of talented individuals who knew various hands-on trades and crafts. They also had fighters and hunters to keep raiders at bay and food on the table.
Maybe you were a SCAdian yourself, or maybe someone in your family was. Maybe you were a LARPer, and so folded very easily into a SCAdian community. Whatever your personal situation, you are in a well-formed and solid community that isn't struggling to the degree that a lot of other communities are. It's not the "luxury" of Cheyenne Mountain, but it's a comfortable existence.

No One Clearly Intelligent Follower: Gee, that Boomverse stuff sounds interesting! Could you explain it some more in depth? Me: Why, of course, Iâd be happy to! Itâs one of my favorite things @tybunnythehellmoose and I concocted in our years of RPing! Obvious Strawperson: I canât wait to hear all about it! Also youâre a gorgeous genius. Me: Yes, yes, I know.Â

Magic has returned to the world, suddenly and rather violently. Thus why most people call it the "Boom." The skies are permanently clouded over, higher-level technology generally doesn't work, and there are so-called "chaos zones" of wild magic in various spots. You don't want to go into a chaos zone; who knows how you'll come out... or even if you will at all.
Magic is thus generally feared and shunned, which is super bad news for you, as you - having been born post-Boom - have magical powers. Maybe just one or two; you likely haven't been trained yet, because you live in a small community of people banded together under the sometimes-mistaken belief that there is safety in numbers.
Whatever your powers are, if the other people of the village find out you have them, they're likely to react with fear and possibly hate. You might well be driven out - perhaps even by your own family - sent into exile in the wilderness. While heartless, you can't entirely blame them: many untrained mages lose control of their powers and, depending on what those powers are, bad things can result. It's not just superstition that makes people fear untrained magic; injuries and deaths can and have occurred because a mage got too angry or upset.
But maybe your village is different. Maybe they know how to get you the training you need. Maybe they don't even know that you have these powers, and your family can help you keep the secret. Or maybe your powers are useful to them, so much so that the community is happy to have you stick around.
Whatever your particular situation, you are a mage in a small village in the post-apocalyptic "Boomverse." Magic courses through your veins and, one way or another, it looks like magic is here to stay in the world. How you - and others around you - deal with that is the big question.
