useless devotion
if no one will ever truly know me, what is the point of pouring devotion into another.
i would bleed myself dry for those 5 minutes the sun sets and we sit smiling at each other. half of the time we don't even notice when the sun leaves.
he will never see us the same way i do.
he knows i listen to the songs he recommends and he questions my devotion. how could he not understand the moons pull to earth and the rotation of the earth around the sun.
his ignorance will be the death of me. he avoids our inseparable ties. every time he thinks he's destroyed the bridges we built, he notices the little piece of string wrapped around his ring finger.
i can imagine he rolls his eyes as he unties it. i know he'll let me tie it around his finger again; he will pretend he doesn't notice, but obviously he does.
that damn porch is bare without the sight of your work pants. the sun bleeds you into every inch of the grass. when will i be able to look at the sky and not think of the way you clear your throat and the way you smile at me when you don’t want to admit the joke i just made was funny.
relentlessly and uselessly devoted to you.
