Multiple books were removed that promoted “alternative cures” for #autism as well hit documentaries like Vaxxed: From Cover-Up to Catastrophe. Regardless of how you feel personally about vaccinations, purging information in such a manner is alarming and should be cause for grave concern. Last month, during the hysteria over the measles non-epidemic, TFTP pointed out how this hysteria was being used to make massive shifts in online algorithms as well as legislation. Not only do people react differently to different medicines, but these medicines are manufactured and administered by humans—who make errors—a lot. So, maintaining skepticism in the form of advocating for safe vaccines is a necessary counter balance to blindly accepting the word of companies who have been known to lie and cause harm to countless people — paying out billions to their victims. Currently, across the country, there are over 100 bills filed in 30 different states proposing to expand, restrict or eliminate vaccine informed consent rights. Now as this recent move by Amazon and others illustrates, those who promote vaccine safety are being treated as outcasts and lawmakers are literally calling for them to be silenced, and it is working. Sen. Richard Pan, D-Sacramento, who has sponsored mandatory vaccine laws throughout his career came out last month to threaten the speech of those who question forced vaccination. I've had an interesting relationship with religion over the years. I like to see myself as an open minded agnostic. I don't think going out of your way to offend people for holding certain beliefs is the best way to get your point across. Burning a holy book or generalising all persons of faith or in this case a particular faith is not going to win over minds and hearts. I've lived through the new-atheist era of the four horsemen. I've heard many militant-atheist arguments over the years. So I know these tactics tend not an effective debating strategy. Been there done that. Former Dawkins fanboy here actually.
I think these religious vs non-religious debates are pointless. But if you must have these disputes at all there are certainly much better ways of doing it. He could have made a YouTube or TikTok video outlining his thoughts. Instead he chose to burn a Quran outside a public place populated with many Muslims.
The reality is, this case shouldn't even be framed as blasphemy case at all. This isn't really anything to do with blasphemy in fact. It is an issue connected with hate speech. Hate speech of any sort should never be regarded as free speech. We can't come out and say that homophobia, transphobia, misogamy and racism are hate speech. While in the same breath also say that generalisations about religious individuals based on stereotypes; are the exception and should for (no apparent reason) not be classed as hate speech. That is a dangerous double standard to hold. Yes there are extremists in the Muslim, Christian and many other religious communities. But to generalise them all as terrorists or evil is quite frankly promoting hatred, and profiling entire groups. To me as leftists and humanists (for that matter) that is not something we should be doing. We shouldn't be setting up a double standard like that. If we are against hate speech, we need to be consistent with that.

we have a kind of plot where like. the old archives staff were freinds with agnes in a way esp michael and gerry bc michael was one of the first not gertrude people to treat her like a human and gerry kind of becomes her and gertrude's honorary son ..and after they all die agnes goes into a sort of hiding but then delivers a statement to the institute and then erm . krills her shelf bc she has no purpose anymore but then the fearpocalypse is triggered shortly after and she has her own domain but as opposed to Jude's violent destruction domain, hers is the part of the desolation that encapsulates Loss because that is all she is by the time of her death and her and jon have a conversation about destiny and avatarship and loss before she asks him to smite her and he puts her out of her misery........yeah . we cook here!
