Robert Plant (1969)
Led Zeppelin, led by the shrieking of Robert Plant, had in it three very fine musicians. Drummer John Bonham performed one of the best solos I’ve ever heard, and lead guitar Jimmy Page played excellently. On bass guitar was John Paul Jones. However, Plant’s singing detracted from any musical effect the group had. He simply mimicked the lead guitar with his voice... very entertaining. But the crowd loved it, not permitting the group to leave until they had completed a half-hour encore. (Mark Gindes’s review of Led Zeppelin’s show at the Anaheim Convention Center)

“ Rock ‘n’ roll put me in a stranglehold. It had seduced me and the damage was done. ” (Jimmy Page) Led Zeppelin + concerts. inspo: x | x
On this day in 1969, I played the TV programme 'Tous En Scene - Antenne Culturelle du Kremlin-Bicêtre' in Paris with Led Zeppelin. The two songs that were featured in various TV shows and TV series to promote the bands work with reference to the first album were 'Communication Breakdown' and 'Dazed and Confused'. With some of these TV shows at the time, it became more obvious that wanting to perform our material live and the quality of the TV recording just wasn't working - like mixing oil and water.
