and how people often forget how much she knows and understands about the engineering behind the car and just think about her as a driver first and foremost

but there are these moments where she’s being interviewed on something that happened out on the track and she unconsciously slips into a very detailed-engineering minded answer to answer the question

and people are shocked because they think her whole deal is driving and driving only without accounting for her background in this sport

she was raised by the smartest engineers she knows (her mama and opa), she watched as her little brother dive headfirst into engineering from the jump

like her mom and her brother, she was a little sponge for any and all things regarding how this sport operates, she just took a liking to driving a bit more than the engineering bit.

while other kids parents put their kids to bed by reading goodnight moon and goldilocks to their kids; hers were reading mercedes internal documents out loud while having her in their laps and her snoozing away until they noticed the little one was out for the night and move her to her big girl bed

yeah she takes after her dad in a lot of regards, but that doesnt mean she doesn’t take after her mom as well.

[and maybe after these little outbursts of engineering knowledge the engineers in the garage alongside her mom, opa, and brother joke about how their jobs are in danger]

the part about reading racing stuff to bed is so accurate, I can totally see either mick or bb doing it, maybe it started one day when mick was traveling, and bb had a lot to study and still needed to put eloise to bed, but I kid you not nothing would make that girl sleep, so choosing not to fight, bb just sat eloise on her lap while she went through an merc engineering book and yup that was the first thing in hours that got elo's attention, so much so she watched a few of the figures, while suckling on her pacifier and ended up sleeping in less than twenty minutes.

since she grew up in the merc garage she would've been around when michael was on the team

and he was the one to help break her out of her shell a bit, having experience with raising mick

and her nickname "our little aerodynamicist" that the merc crew refer to her as came from him

because she was always shadowing the aerodynamics team when bono knew she was accounted and taken care of if he wasnt the one watching her

he probably wouldve suggested bringing the two of them out to switzerland to spend time with his family, but with all the busy schedules it never happened

she probably called him uncle michael because he always volunteered to watch her when he was done with his jobs for the day but bono was still busy

she probably was a reminder of his own kids at home, the one to keep him tethered to his family and his kids while he ventured in this return to racing

his accident wouldve crushed her when she found out because that was the first really big loss she experienced in her life, even though he didnt die

and her second wouldve probably been niki lauda

because niki wouldve probably been a grand father figure to her

she got to experience life with these two great figures and now theyre gone

the two of them would've taught her the life lesson [stolen from bluey i dont care]: that special people come into your life, stay for a bit, and go

omgggg <3 though I don't write things that mention michael, I can totally see this scenario, and let me tell you- *teary eyes emoji* this thing about a possible meeting that never happened and then their meeting finally happening years after as adults is so soul mate coded and I love it

She would probably see Lewis as a brother too, seeing as when he got to merc she was still a kid just getting into her early teenage years - he totally shaped her music taste, I just know it.

Also, toto and susie just love her, and will add her to some family trips because cmon they saw her when she was jack's age, at this point she's like an older sister (and you can bet bono will get a bit jealous about it sometimes)

was a hair ribbons and barrettes girl when she was younger. and for race weekends she would have color corresponding hair accessories to match the team’s colors. In recent memory it’s been a lot silver, white, and teal for merc, but there was a time when it was all neon yellow for brawn 

in the same vein i think that a lot of male team members learned how to style and braid hair because of bon. she likes to have her hair somewhat out of her face so it doesn't get in the way of seeing the cars out on track or when pouring over data with her small eyes. it was a regular occurrence that if bon came running at someone with a hair tie that they most likely would know how to so the style she wanted, and if they didn’t know how to another would know because they had done it previously for this small girl their little village is raising 

calls bono papa. i have no reasoning for this one except i just think it fits 

has bangs with longer tendrils on either side that curve inwards a bit while the middle bits are cut shorter and blend in with the tendrils and the bangs are styled in a way where there is a middle part (i hope you get what i mean with what i’ve typed out, if ya cant envision it email me i will draw you a diagram cause anons cant have pics for some god forsaken reason)

got bribed by rival teams drivers with candy and a promise of having their helmet if she wore their team’s merch and cheered for them during the race

when visiting other garages it would be very common for brawn/merc team members to just up and pick their girl up off the ground, throw her over their shoulder, and run back to their garage all whilst she’s giggling away as she’s being stolen back 

hid in the crook of many a team members neck when she was being carried by them and they got stopped for a quick interview 

she’s allowed on radio to congratulate when the team’s drivers have done a good job/have won the race after they have crossed the checkered flag 

has helped designed many a helmet for certain drivers (lew, michael, seb, jense) lew being the one she has done the most for 

i think kimi would be the one she would go to when she needed quiet from the chaos and loudness that being in and around f1 brings. she would just show up to where he was and he silently made space for her to just vibe and be beside him, because he knows that’s what she needs. he welcomes her presence any time she needs him and it builds a very strong connection between the two that continues on into bon’s adulthood

- used to glue her stickers on cars when people weren't looking. one time seb raced with an ariel sticker and some hearts on his car;

one race weekend when bon was real small, she goes missing. and not in the sense she was kidnapped, but in the sense that the people that were watching her got distracted and she wandered off. understandably, bono is raising hell because “YOU LOST MY KID?! I TRUSTED YOU TO WATCH MY KID AND YOU LOST HER???” and everyone has a fire under their ass running around looking for this kid because angry bono is scary bono 

now back to little miss aerodynamicist, she got distracted by one of the cars in the garage and climbed her way in, and got comfy whilst she pretended she was out on track. and due to being so comfy in the car she falls asleep, it is near her naptime after all, and due to her small body dipping into the seat from sleep overtaking her if you were looking at the car straight on, but you could see her if you were looking down into the cockpit

It isn’t until one of the mechanics takes a glance at the car for a second and sees her sleeping in the chaos of trying to find the same girl who they were looking at. they snap a picture because how could you not??? before calling bono over, and at first he thinks they are trying to talk about the car. and he’s even more pissed because my daughter is missing and you’re focused on the car?? 

and when he makes it over he’s about to voice his distaste of not caring his daughter is missing, but then he sees her

his little angel snoozing away unaware of the chaos she inadvertently caused

since bon baby is bono's only kid and only direct family now he's freaking out when they lose her, she's his pride and joy, and she's so small, he's absolutely angry in a way no one saw before.

ok i’ve mentioned them enough, lets dig into the bonnington-schumi kiddos

history has a funny way of repeating itself and for bon and mick it manifests in their kids birth order and gender

because much like when corrina had gina and mick, bon had her daughter first and son second. and both came out looking like two more schumacher clones to add to the collection 

but bon isn't complaining because how could she be mad when her two babies share those unmistakable blue eyes 

their first born is named: Eloise “Ellie” Suzanne Bonnington-Schumacher 

and their second born is: Mike “Mikey” Sebastian Bonnington-Schumacher 

imagine bon and mick introducing little ellie to susie in the hospital and when susie asks what her name is and bon goes “eloise suzanne” susie just melts because this little bundle of joy is named after her. 

and the same goes for sebastian when mikey is born 

the f1 crew just going though the cycle of watching another kid grow up in the paddock start up again with miss ellie. but this time it’s the kid of the original kid you watched grow up, and this time around there’s two of them because mikey is born a few years after 

and everyone jokes about how “oh ellie is going to be an engineer like her mama” and “oh mikey is a future f1 champ like his papa” 

but the opposite happens where ellie is the driver, and mikey is an engineer 

And imagine the timelapse of the headphones to protect their little ears and how they look so giant on them cause they’re so small, but give it a few years and now they look proportionate to their bodies 

(i feel like that would make a lot of people just so soft and heartbroken because their favorite little kids are growing up and so fast, like pls make it stop 😢) 

[also the people who watched bon grow up just get deja vu whenever they are interacting with ellie, because wow does she act just like bon when she was this age]

and best believe these two are championship babies. you can't tell me no on this one. 

When they announced they were pregnant with ellie, people both in real life and online are so quick to do the math on when she could’ve been conceived, and they all land on the fact she was conceived around the time of abu dhabi 

and after mikey is born, toto sits the both of them down and says “i love that the team is winning championships with mick, and i love the kids. but next time you two do it after winning a championship please for the love of god put a condom on. because two little kids are going to be enough with them running around the paddock.”

and mick is just mortified, while bon is laughing her ass off and she’s the one to reassure him that they wont be having anymore kids anytime soon

totally agree on mikey engineer and ellie driver!!! espec bc I think ellie is more of a social butterfly while mikey is a bit shy like mick, he's funny and friendly, but usually he'll only talk if you talk to him first (the paddock experience helps it a little with this, but he keeps a bit of the shyness, its so cute and bb loves it bc he's such a momma's boy - its makes up for ellie being dada's girl)

miss bono!reader has pretty much grown up in merc merch. she just got the smallest sizes of whatever teamwear her dad got each year and even though the shirts were basically dresses and the hats covered her face, she loved every piece because she was a part of the team. she never wanted them to order kids sizes for her and once she grew up more, she refused the “special” women’s gear because it just never felt right, she was just one of the boys in the garage. they knew which jackets were hers when she inventively got hot, took it off, and left it somewhere (including in other team’s garages when she was visiting) because her stickers were always in the pockets.

now that she’s come even more into her own, she’s learned how to style the boxy shirts and large caps to fit with the rest of her outfit and personal style. the real master of tucked in tops and hairstyles that look good with hats. the fashion instagrams love her, of course.

living with mick just means twice as much team gear and more often than not, she’ll end up wearing his jackets and hoodies because they’re big, comfy, and smell like him. at this point, no one in the garage even bats an eye when she has “mick” on her shirt.

and during the race, she always wears his warmup jacket (and ties it around her waist when it’s too hot) to go with his necklace and all of the sentimental jewelry she wears.

I think her and lew went through that fashion phase, or rather started said phase, together. it was def something that brought them closer (besides bono himself).

Bono baby is pretty close with lew, when he went to merc she was fairly young and therefore they created a bond, she looks up to him almost like a brother but can’t seem to admit it or voice it bc of her attachments issues (what if he changes teams? what if he lefts? what if he doesn’t like me the same?), but lew is close with peter too so he knows a bit about their story, and he knows bono baby loves him, so he can’t help but treat her like his lil sister.

When George came around she was older so their bond is different, but still tight. She loves him and is always making fun/memes of him (they prolly have a group chat - her, george, lew and mick).

The older drivers like nando and jenson saw her grow up so there’s still that disbelief whenever they see her taller than her dad, working as an aerodynamicist for merc, like howww? you were just a pigtail baby a few years ago :(

once mick and bon’s f1 family find out they are expecting these people are pulling out their credit cards and buying every possible baby item they can set their hands on

kids mini mercedes car? delivered to their house

cute plush they saw at the store? in hand on the way to the register and holding onto it until they see one of them at the next race

the mercedes amg branded stroller and carseat? toto has shown up to their house in the middle of the night to hand deliver it (babe these are real products i just want you to know)

a shit ton of baby tommy hilfiger clothes that are unreleased? lew is folding them and putting it in the new wardrobe he bought for the nursery, before they even woke up (how did he get in?????? [he has a key])

a handmade crib that seb put hours of love into making? he’s setting it up while lew is folding the clothes

a collection of gina’s cowboy hats from her childhood? making space for them in the closet while lew and seb are doing their thing

and it isnt all monetary (even though they get enough items to fully furnish the nursery and have enough toys and clothes for at least another kid and didnt even have to worry about any of the other baby things because their village got it for them already) [seriously they didnt have to buy a damn thing]

like how susie has come over to either cook for them or drop off a dish she’s made

or how the kimi, nando, jensen, seb, lew, etc. come over one day to paint the nursery the color bon and mick have picked out but just haven’t gotten around to painting because of their busy schedules

or how while most of the guys who came over to help paint (how many of these fuckers actually need to be here in order to paint a single room one color?) val has made bon a cup of tea, and a cup of coffee for him to keep her company while mick supervises the painting session

or how lance and esteban will bring over fresh pastry around brunch time, to help in feeding the growing family

and it’s all a bit too much, but they don’t have the heart to tell them to stop so mick and bon just let their family shower their love on them

and bon is a little bit stressed about the whole “who do we put on paper so if anything happens to us they will be taken care of?” situation, but mick reassures her while they are cuddling in bed that there is no wrong answer and he will support whoever she wants to be godparents to their children, while kissing her gently and while sun fills the room they’re occupying

and they eventually land on a consensus

ellie’s godparents are susie and lew

because for one, little miss eloise is named after susie and lew is just so close to bon and she wants him in her daughter's life as much as he has been for her growing up

toto can be an unofficial godparent and i don't feel bad about that because he absolutely just slots himself into the role of grandpa right next to bono. [adding onto this nando absolutely gets called grandpa/abuelo because bon gets a good laugh each time nando reacts to hearing him being referred to as a grandpa.]

mikey’s godparents are gina a seb

seb because again this kid is named after him, but also because we cant leave seb out of being godparent. mick and bon would not let that slide. and then gina cause they also wont let gina not be godparent, and the fact she is mick's sister and bon's sister in law.

yeah people like lance and esteban are close to them, but these four they hold just a smidge closer. but not all is lost because they are very enthusiastically filling the roles of uncles for eloise and mikey. alongside people like val, kimi, jense, etc.
