Today it occurred to me that the set doesn't come with rosin. So I looked it up and apparently the violins they make now are plastic and nonfunctional! I didn't know that till today, so I hadn't asked before buying if the set I ordered was the original wood one that made a sound when played. It shipped yesterday, too late to cancel the order without feeling guilty, so I decided to look up and save some new listings that were definitely the wood ones, just in case the one I got turned out to be plastic. If it was wood, I planned to delete the saves from my lists.

This is how I found a 1996 recital outfit (which looks just like the ones we wore for middle school concerts but was off my radar then because I didn't have a doll) that came with not only a functional wood violin and the stand and books, but also a flute! I ordered that too, because it was a reasonable price and I had been planning to get the recital outfit eventually. I figured I could sell whichever violin set I didn't want and the flute together to recoup my costs for the first violin set.

Only thennnnnn I learned that there also exists an entire doll-sized music store, to include a cello, an orchestral percussion set, and a recorder. Which they are calling a flutophone but it looks just like the recorders we played in third grade. Among others - guitars galore, ukulele sets, drums, keyboards, a piano. You could really make a whole school orchestra in 1/3 scale with everything they've come out with since that first tiny violin.

And now I am reconsidering selling the extra violin and the flute, and thinking about buying a cello, flutophone, and percussion set so I can have a whole dolly orchestra. They'll all need recital outfits, for obvious reasons.

And I immediately saw 1980s Tina Turner. Just give her a microphone and a sequin or leather minidress, tease the hair a little more, and there she is.

I don't need a Tina Turner doll. I don't even want one, really. But the Beehive in the Bonnet won't let go of the idea, so I saved the listing and if it's still there when I have the extra to play with I might buy it to customize.

Also the offer I *totally was not stalking* has finally, Finally, FINALLY been accepted and I will have three 1989 Gotz dolls arriving in the next weekish. I only wanted one to customize for a Lars to go with my Kirsten, but the other two are in good shape with only a little repair work needed so I will fix them up and then decide what to do with them.

Well, that's only partly accurate. It didn't HAVE to be a Tenney. I just happened to want to swap her arms out with my mini for violin-holding purposes and figured I could use the rest of the doll with the swapped arms for one half of this custom set rather than buying a pair of Tenney arms for my mini AND a second doll and then having an extra pair of arms in my parts box.

I'm not telling who I'm making yet (if you know me from Discord, shush you please and thanks). This is also a long-term project; I really DO need to get all my historicals, my JLY, and my mini finished before I begin this project because it will be a labor-intensive one; dyeing, painting, repainting eyes, restyling hair, sewing clothes. I expect these two dolls alone to take the better part of a month. I probably won't begin them until late summer. I do have a loose deadline I want them done by, but it's somewhat flexible. Finishing them up anytime before Christmas would be fine.
