Cynoglossum, aka houndstongue, and sometimes "wild comfrey" (but it isn't exactly; same family, different genus). This plant is used in Appalachian folk medicine to help bones "knit", meaning help a fracture heal and/or a dislocation relocate. . . So if you were setting a bone the old fashioned way, you would 1) apply traction to the joint or pseudo-joint; 2) attempt to reduce the dislocation of the bone(s); and if possible 3) apply a compress of this plant or something similar. . . . People did this for ages, back when getting to a healthcare provider was difficult or impossible for more of the population, and the person i learned it from was not any sort of professional, but had set a lot of bones in their life. It's one of those things like bloody cupping for snakebites that was sort of crude but worked well enough when that was all the help there was to be had. . . . #appalachia #folkmedicine #bonesetting #herbalmedicine
