The light drizzle made the zoo an unpleasant place. The paths between the cages were empty of people, wet and so dark they seemed to swallow all light from their surroundings. The sight was like one of a dystopian novel, an aftermath of an apocalypse, except there was nothing disheatening about it when it came to Kyungsoo. He was only bothered by the grey sky and the neverending rain that suffocated the surrounding sounds and repelled the birds. Ones that were not caged in, that was.
“Hello,” he greeted one of the employees. The boy had introduced himself a few times (either because he had realized Kyungsoo did not know his name or because he did not remember Kyungsoo), but his name escaped him still. He settled for a serious, polite nod of head. “How are the birds?” The question was not about the particular individual of a horned owl in the cage, but all of the species with wings scattered across the area. There were more exotic animals to be seen, he had been told, lions and all. But he had never been fond of felines and their predatory ways.
