At long last! ~4 months later, we return to noteclan.
Apologies for the exposition dump at the end; forgot that that Wasn't Canon until I went to post this the first time, and went oh! I need to Explain Shit!
But yeah! The kitted cats! I LOVE Scrapstar's design, and those panels of Veilbreak and Bogpaw..

"You don't see me backing down from myself! ... Not in terms of being... my personality."
What Bogpaw had said was true. Bogpaw was being herself, loving and whole and throwing herself into her tasks with her whole heart. But...
... But something still wasn't feeling right. The times where Bogpaw felt most complete wasn't when she was with her sister. It was when there was nobody looking at her, or Goldpaw was appreciative of her, or...
... the word 'her' wasn't helping much. Everytime it went through Bogpaw's head, or was directed at Bogpaw, it felt like a mismatch. Like a mouse forcefully being given wings, and told to fly with it.
But Bogpaw wasn't a guy.
"... Bogpaw?" Goldpaw's voice drifted from the next nest over, and Bogpaw turned over to face him. His golden eyes shone with worry. "You've been awake for a while. You okay?"
Bogpaw could lie and say 'i'm alright', but Bogpaw didn't want to. Bogpaw sighed, head lowering to paws. "... I don't... think I'm a molly."
Goldpaw paused, and he tilted his head. "So... you're a tom...?"
"No." Bogpaw replied, easily. "Like- neither fit me. I don't- I don't like either of them. Get them away from me." A laugh, nervous. "But, what else?"
Goldpaw thought for a few moments. "... you could just... not. Isn't Quickstar like that? Everyone talks to them fine."
Bogpaw paused. That's right, everyone referred to them differently. Still the same, but...
Nothing. Not a mouse, not a bird, not a mixture.
"... I'm like Quickstar." Bogpaw meowed. "That's alright? To just... change like that?"
"I don't see why not." Goldpaw chuckled, shuffling closer. "Is this why you've been grumpy lately?"
"I have not been grumpy!" Bogpaw complained. "Just thinking!" They sighed, rolling their eyes. "Why did I confide in you."
"Because I listen and bring up things to consider." Goldpaw meowed. "And you help me push forward. We're a good duo."
Bogpaw sighed, running their paw over the stripe on their head. "... of course. Thanks for... pointing out Quickstar. I completely forgot. I'll tell everyone tomorrow."
Goldpaw purred, whiskers twitching with amusement. "I'll tell Batpaw."
"Yeah, that's fine."
With that, Bogpaw settled into their nest. Their sleep came easily this time.

Bogpaw realized that she-cat doesn't fit how they feel anymore. (Nonbinary!!)
Lilypadpaw of RiverClan, Bogpaw of RiverClan, Songpaw of RiverClan.
Lilypadpaw- A thoughtful and introverted cat. Lilypadpaw likes to watch the river flowing, and will take all the chances they get to observe it, mesmerised by the movements of the water and they like to wonder how far the river stretches and if it ever ends or loops round in one big circle, they tends to let her mind wander like this, thinking about things much bigger than they are, often earning her reminders to pay attention by their mentor. Lilypadpaw tends to keep quiet and doesn’t interact too much with their fellow apprentices, they like to keep their thought in their head and would be very embarrassed if anyone found out what they were thinking about, 14/10
Bogpaw - An energetic and mischievous cat. Bogpaw is a bit of a troublemaker at times, they like to have a bit of fun, and don’t see the harm in it as an apprentice, they want to cram all the fun in they can before they are a warrior and expected to always be on their best behaviour, they have been scorned by their mentor more times than they can count, but seeing the amusement in the eyes of others when they perform their mischief makes it all worth it. Bogpaw always needs to have something to occupy them otherwise they will get very fidgety and restless and they will often kneed the ground when they are sitting still just as a way to occupy their paws, 14/10
Songpaw - A gentle and curious cat. Songpaw is very empathetic, they always seem to be able to tell just what a cat is feeling and if they are feeling sad, they will try to help, despite being an apprentice, Songpaw is very good at giving advice, leading many of their clanmates to remark that they are wise beyond their moons. Songpaw loves to explore, they see great wonder in the world around them and they make sure they don’t miss any of it, they would never dream of disobeying their mentor or the warrior code, but they will always take the opportunity to carefully investigate something new in the territory, 14/10
It’s Bogpaw! This cutie is one of the many fantastic cats of @murder-cats / @bruhlancey (who is also one of my favourite artists! All their cats are so awesome and unique! If you haven’t, please check them out yall!!)

they're sooo. I am so proud of that Tallsilk and Ochrewillow scene. If anyone has any asks they want to send about any of the characters please do I would be So excited to talk more about them.
I'm also very excited about the newcomers! In game both Calakit and Bogpaw joined the clan, but in story, Bogpaw's still a fumbleclan cat. He's a mediator in game, technically existing but mostly there to help me sculpt the story. (Also: if anyone has advice on how to change who a mediator was mentored by, please help! I've tried to modify the code but there's clearly a place I haven't found yet)
also: by a Rough counting(I am sick currently and while I thought I was getting better apparently addition is beyond me rn), I've now drawn more than 100 panels of this comic! If I was doing the classic 3 panel updates lots of folks do I'd be on post 33.. jeez. makes me feel much better about how infrequently I post, LMAO
Finchstar was the one who led the pack towards the ThunderBorder.
(She was not going to admit that Whiskershadow's name made sense.)
Graypaw and Bogpaw followed behind, with Currentdash at the back.
It was quiet. Graypaw and Bogpaw were quiet, which was slightly unusual for the two of them. Currentdash hopped over the last ledge, and then it was a stretch of trees and rocky terrain on their sides.
Finchstar watched them from the corner of her eye. Bogpaw was glancing around, and Graypaw was focusing on walking forward.
"Say, want to hear about how we became a clan?"
Bogpaw's eyes flicked towards Finchstar, but she didn't say anything.
Finchstar held her head up. "Back when we were just a bunch of loners, I was a just a regular cat who wandered in the part of the woods that became our camp. I would explore, of course, but that got me far too many glaring looks and threatening to get out of their area."
A pause. No response. Bogpaw even wasn't looking anymore. Finchstar glanced to Currentdash, who was scenting the border.
"Don't you guys want to know about how we got started?"
Graypaw thought for a moment. "...not really."
"I'm sure it's interesting, but I want to see the ThunderBorder more...?" Bogpaw offered, smiling nervously. "Sorry, Finchstar."
Finchstar rolled her eyes. "Another time. So, the ThunderBorder, huh? Where'd you hear that name from?"
Bogpaw glanced to Currentdash, who glanced away.
"... Alright, I guess I can call it the ThunderBorder." Finchstar meowed.
Graypaw tilted his head. "... didn't you call it the ThunderBorder when-"
"I don't know what you're talking about." Finchstar replied, stepping over a root.
Graypaw tripped over it, and Bogpaw giggled. She made sure to dramatically hop over it. "Look where you're going, Gray!"
"Ugh, whatever, Bog." Graypaw shook out his fur and continued walking.
Currentdash chuckled, making sure to avoid the root. After a while, they arrived, and the apprentices stared with wide eyes. "This is our ThunderBorder. Be very careful! Monsters can travel here, and their speed can cause any cat to be flattened under their paws."

Graypaw and Bogpaw get taken to the further corners of Needleclan territory by Finchstar and Currentdash. On the way, Finchstar tells a story of their ancestors. The others are not paying attention, even despite how Finchstar is trying to tell them of how the clans formed. Finchstar gives up.
