BOBBY MILLS still flowing. A century-old Walnut & English oak wood at WASHIDA

很榮幸今年再次邀請到 Bobby Mills 作為 Atelier 秋季的開端，此次合作中延續使用一整塊擁有數百年樹齡的珍稀英國胡桃木，橫跨 1.2 公尺的幅寬，充分利用木材原本的紋理與結構，使用傳統的木匠工具以現代手法技術去執行，不同於木工廠的生產線，Bobby Mills 一次性地完成每件傢俱及每組物件，在如此專注於創作的情況下，更確保了作品的精緻度與獨特性。

有別於去年展出的大型餐桌與椅凳，這次的系列更加貼近日常生活，適合小家庭擺放的中型物件，如2-3人使用的小茶几、邊桌、咖啡桌以及長椅，有趣的地方在於 Bobby Mills 擅長將木頭最原始的生命力雋永存流，隨著木紋的流動性與天然生長的肌理，任由木頭以自然的形體去發展，而誕生此次2025年的新系列。

We are honored to once again invite Bobby Mills to open the autumn season at Atelier this year. Continuing his signature approach, this collaboration makes use of a single slab of rare English walnut, aged for centuries and spanning an impressive width of 1.2 meters. By fully embracing the natural grain and structure of the wood, Bobby works with traditional carpenter’s tools while applying contemporary techniques. Unlike factory production lines, each piece is completed in its entirety by his own hand, ensuring a level of precision and individuality that reflects his dedication to craft.

In contrast to last year’s exhibition of large dining tables and benches, this new series moves closer to everyday life, with medium-sized works suitable for smaller homes—pieces such as intimate tea tables for two to three people, side tables, coffee tables, and long benches. What makes this collection especially compelling is Bobby’s ability to preserve the raw vitality of the wood. Following the organic flow of the grain and the textures shaped by time, he allows the material to guide its own form. The result is a 2025 series that feels both timeless and alive, carrying forward the natural spirit of the walnut in every piece.

"Every piece I create continues the life and story of the tree from which it's made," shares Bobby Mills. We are privileged to unveil Bobby Mills' second exhibition in the coming week, heralding the arrival of summer at Atelier.

During this collaboration, Bobby Mills' meticulous selection of English walnut trees, aged over a century, serves as the cornerstone of his artistry. Embracing the natural character of the wood, he collaborated with skilled craftsmen to shape and refine it through knocking, beating, sharpening, and grinding- ensuring the wood's vitality was preserved permanently in various forms.

Over twenty distinctive pieces, ranging from dining tables to stools and tablewares. We extend a heartfelt invitation to all to immerse themselves in the vitality exuded by Bobby Mills' masterpieces.
