Bucky swirled a hand in the bath, a slick of lavender and sandalwood bath oil making rainbow patterns in the water.

"Babydoll, I've got to go." Bucky bent down to put his combat boots on, pulling the laces tight and tucking them in the top, no time for neat army knots.

Joaquín jumped onto the bed, double wide and reinforced, they’d learnt the hard way anything less wouldn’t last, and answered the video call.

Buck is the silent protector kind, at least in front of the others.

He’ll hold Bob oh so delicately and just be the sweetest— but like, not show it in front of the others. Bucky Barnes isn’t some weak soft guy! (Also the teasing would be endless)

After a fight he’ll find Bob first thing, the two will just relish in each other’s hold, just happy to be with their comfort human

If Val comes around to do her rounds, make sure her little avengers she’s trying to assemble with glue and undying will stays together and on their best behavior, Bucky will tuck away Bob into one of his inter jacket pockets— nice and snug and a place Bob doesn’t have to be seen by the cold, cruel world outside.

Like I said, James Buchanan Barnes is not some big softie, but put these two behind closed doors and he’s as soft as a cooked marshmallow.

He’ll let Bob curl up on his chest at night. Bob can always feel when his heart rate would pick up under his body, knowing when the nightmares got bad, and he’d curl up closer at his neck.
