Thank you @northeastbaltimore for letting me have the mic (brave of you!) for the weekend. Thank you to everyone who helped me show this feed some of the things that make this area thrive and continue to evolve to serve each other without harm. Things I wanted to do but couldn’t : Walk Belair road and say hello to the businesses and people there. @belairedison @neleaders accounts are great to follow, to show you some goodness across the park. Make it to @alexlacquement space “The spot” today at 4 to see music in an area that was created for just that. I wanted to say to you, as a businessperson, single mother, and white woman, that living fully present in this city has meant I have to be vigilant with my position here, it’s privilege - and me, a minority. This is a Black city in its population. I have benefitted from that. Which is to say, my daily prayer is to ask to be in service to myself and others so that I can make a difference and do no harm. I say this a few times a day. 🙏 We are witnessing an incredible time inside the work force right now. I wanted to get as many businesses as I could in this weekend. Because the last two years taught me what it meant to recommit, a few times- and restructure to accommodate the reality of the shop. (I think I blab about that with @nopixafterdark in our interview) What you saw yesterday are people doing it for the guts, not the glory. And that takes some real hutzpah and heart. I’m so eternally grateful to the community that has fed, housed, comforted, helped create, and still invites me back. ❤️😭❤️ My son was here this weekend last minute not feeling well👶🏻, from UMD, and while I had everything posted in real time, perhaps you can comment a business you love.
