i dont wanna hear rules for writing gay people anymore i dont wanna see gay ppl telling other gay ppl that they way they’re writing their own experiences is festishizing or offensive or count as internalized homophobia bc they wrote a gay character who was evil or they wrote a gay character who dies or they wrote a gay character who is openly sexual or they wrote a gay character with an actually interesting morally dubious flaw. contrary to popular belief the problem is not that media has these tropes its that they are the ONLY way gay people get represented but guess who fucking made it that way? straight people! when gay people do this its because they wanna tell their stories in their own ways and they wanna see what’s personally representing them and SURPRISE what personally represents some gay folks doesn’t always jive with others bc we’re like, people, something yall seem to forget when you assume that every gay person likes the same shit or holds the same opinion. That’s not to say you can’t be critical of these things but there’s a huge swath of difference between criticizing and saying straight up you think someone’s harming their own community and they should stop writing their complex, interesting, and challenging story for something more palatable to you personally. nobody needs you to fucking police other gays into being more acceptable thnx
