"Kao-kun! Can I visit your house?"
It seemed like a simple enough question to be sure, one asked by his good friend, Yui Sasaki. It received a simple enough answer from the young boy: a cheerful "sure!"
All went well on the way there, idle chat and poking fun at each other until they reached their destination. Kao stepped inside first, taking a look to see if his parents were any where around. They were in the kitchen.
He then motioned for her to come in after him before calling to his mother and father.
"Mom! Dad! I'm home. I brought a friend with me," he announced. In came rushing in his mother, who quickly made eye contact with Yui and frowned. She directed her own son to the kitchen before kicking out the girl at least. Though, Kao figured that happened when he returned to the front room and his beloved friend was no where to be found.
Oh so many questions he had, but he kept them in as his mother sat him down to give him yet another rule to add on to their seemingly hundreds.
"You mustn't talk to girls. They're distractions, only looking out for themselves," she explained to her young child. He nodded and complied, of course. He refrained from talking to Yui the next day. and they day after that one. It got easier over time, especially one week later, when he was transferred to an all boy's school so he wouldn't have that distraction.
