AHHHH they FINALLY KISSED. i didn’t know which thing that we had been waiting for was going to happen, but i’m glad it was that one. I’m honestly kinda surprised that y/n hasn’t figured out that bucky is undercover, but maybe that’s just her denial
WOOOO KISSIN!!! But thats a good point honestly! At this point, she knows something is wrong. It doesn’t add up at a man like James - who is as kind and caring as he is - could be involved with Hydra. But you’re right, there’s a heavy layer of denial in there on top of just the fact that this kind of undercover stunt has never been tried before (especially this high up in the chain) and it would be insanely risky for a cop to throw himself into the thick of things like this. It’s inconceivable. Not to mention she’s spent years being told that she’s a prisoner and worth little more than her husband’s arm candy, so to think that James is actually undercover and the good, honorable man she always knew him to be... well... its too good to be true.

Author’s Note: Hey everyone! It’s been a loooong time! This fic is for the fabulous @blushingbarnes writing challenge! They were so sweet and kind to grant me an extension as I finished up with my online class, and after days of fighting with Tumblr and the internet, it’s finally here! I hope everyone enjoys! :)
Prompt: College AU (slightly twisted into a Professor AU)
Summary: The entire time that you’ve been working for your doctorate, you have worked several jobs, but your favorite is being a TA. This semester, instead of working with Professor Barnes as you have been, you get assigned to the handsome new professor, much to Natasha’s jealously.
Warnings: Fluff, sexual tension, language, ~smut~
Other Characters: Natasha Romanoff and Sam Wilson
Word Count: 2,769
“Ugh, fuck me,” Nat groans as she sits down in the student center, handing you your iced coffee.
“What’s wrong today?” Sam sighs, unfazed as he flips through his calculus textbook.
“So you know how there are some classes that are marked ‘STAFF’ when we register?”
“Yeah,” you say, sipping your drink.
“Well, all summer it said ‘STAFF,’ and I was watching it everyday to make sure if it was a bad professor, I could switch.”
“As any rational person would,” you respond.
“I just checked again, and it’s Professor Rogers.”
“The one with the wart on his face?” Sam chimes in, now intrigued.
“No, not Rogers in the computer science department. Rogers as in the new professor. That tall, muscly, blond drink of water.”
“You know, there’s a study that says if you’re attracted to the teacher, you learn better. Whether it’s because you want to impress them because you retain the information well or you actually pay attention to the words that they say, I don’t remember.”
“Well, I guess we’ll find out together.”
“What do you mean?” you ask her.
“That’s the elective class we signed up for together.”
“Oh, I meant to tell you, I dropped that class because there as a seat available in a different one that I wanted and the new schedule worked better for me doing my TA job.”
“And you didn’t tell me!” Nat squeaks. “So I have to sit through the hot new professor’s class all alone now? Who is gonna whack me to make sure I pay attention and don’t fantasize."
“Well, look at it this way, Nat—you’ll be able to use this to your advantage to find a new friend.”
“You suck.”
“Well, regardless, I have to go and meet the professor I’m TA-ing for. See you guys at lunch?”
“Sounds good,” Sam says.
“Later, traitor,” Nat grumbles as she sips her coffee.
“It’s open,” you hear from the other side of the door. You carefully open the barrier and see boxes scattered all around a pretty barren looking office. You knew you had been assigned to a new professor, you just didn’t think that they meant this new.
“Hi, professor,” you start. “My name is (Y/N). I’m your TA for this semester.”
The man puts his books down and turns to face you, a warm smile on his lips. His fluffy blond hair and slightly darker beard only enhances the warmth of his smile and whiteness of his perfectly straight teeth, and you swear your heart skips a beat.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet you,” he says, walking over and extending his hand for a shake. “Word on campus is that you’re one of the best TA’s around. I was lucky to snatch you up when I did.”
“You asked for me by name?” you ask, slightly confused as you shake his warm hand.
“No, not by name. I just asked for the best. Turns out that because all the other professors were arguing over you, they gave you to me so there wouldn’t be an all out brawl.”
“Wow,” you say in complete and utter shock.
“It’s actually quite funny—Professor Barnes wanted to know what I would be willing to trade to have you as his TA for the semester.”
“We did have a system worked out and perfected, so I’m not surprised that he would do something like that. But he was just messing around, I’m sure.”
“You don’t have to try and caution me about Professor Barnes. He and I grew up together. Childhood friends.”
“Oh wow, that’s cool.”
“Tell you what. I don’t want to hold you up, and I still have a lot of unpacking to do. How about we meet up at themed of the week and we can go over schedules and things like that?”
“Sounds good,” you say with a nod. “I’ll see you then.”
“It was really nice to meet you, (Y/N).”
“It was nice to meet you too, Professor Rogers.”
“I’m still so jealous you get to spend time with him,” Nat says as she pops another Cheeto in her mouth. “I don’t know how you’ve worked with him for two and a half months and haven’t made the slightest of moves.”
You roll your eyes. “It’s not like I’m actually spending time with him,” you inform her as you brush your hair. “I get things ready for him, help him do lesson planning, grade, and do office hours so more people can get things answered. If anything, I’m his assistant.”
“Then why did you put on that lipstick and perfume if you’re just his assistant?”
“I can look nice if I want to,” you tell her.
“Right,” she says with a roll of her eye.
“Whatever, Nat,” you sigh. “I might be late tonight because there are a lot of paper’s to go through, so you have full permission to start game night without me. All I ask is that you save me an egg roll.”
“We were going to start without you anyways, and I make no promises about the egg roll.”
“Well, have fun,” you say as you grab your purse and keys by the door.
“You too. Oh, and please remember if you’re gonna do it, use a condom—I know we’re both working towards our PhD, but that’s not what the D stands for. And this apartment is too small for the both of us, and I don’t need a roommate that doesn’t pay rent and keeps me up all night.”
“Just save me an egg roll,” you reiterate as you walk out of the apartment.
“This is why you’re my favorite,” Professor Rogers says as he walks into his office, two iced coffees from the campus cafe in hand.
“Don’t let the other TA’s let you hear that,” you chuckle as you move a stack of corrected homework to the other end of his desk before you take the coffee he extends for you. “They’ll get jealous.”
“They should be jealous,” he laughs as he takes a seat at his desk. “You’re a machine!”
“Well, tonight is game night, and we get Chinese food on game night. I can’t have Sam or Clint take my egg roll—as much as I love winning, I can always guarantee I’ll get an egg roll. The best way to make sure that egg roll is in my stomach is by sticking to my system.”
“I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there’s a lot more that needs to be done for the night,” he says, giving you an apologetic look.
“Like how much more?”
“Well, the essays from my 114, 220 and 315 classes, the exams from my 114 and 350 classes, and we need to adjust some things for the upcoming weeks. I heard from Bucky—erm, Professor Barnes—that I was getting a sit-in evaluation sometime next week, so there’s some adjusting to the lesson plan that needs to be done.”
“Okay, um, I’ll text Nat and ask her to save me an egg roll.”
“Well, I guess where we’re going to be here for a long time, we could order in some things,” he suggests. “No good work ever happens on an empty stomach.”
“Alright,” you nod, processing his suggestion. Normally, a second thought wouldn’t have crossed your mind. But since Nat said what she did before you left, you can’t help but shake the curiosity of what it would be like to be close to Professor Rogers—like, really close—and what it would be like to kiss him.
“(Y/N)?” he asks.
“What?” you ask, snapping out of your daze. “S-Sorry. I got lost in planning.”
“I just wanted to know if there was any restaurant in particular you wanted to order from.”
“Well, if you’re in the mood for Chinese food, there’s a great little spot I’ve been going to with my family for years. It’s called Mai’s, and—.”
“Perfect,” he says. “I love Mai’s. It’s a hidden gem and everything tastes amazing.”
“You’ve gone to Mai’s before?”
“Yeah, of course. Professor Stark and Banner are old friends of mine, so when I would come over and visit them, we’d always order in from Mai’s.”
“Alright,” you chuckle. “Mai’s it is!”
“Okay,” you say as you plop a piece of sesame chicken into your mouth. “I think if we move this over here and wait to do the group work for a different chapter, it’ll work out. You’ll get to show you’re good at lecturing, it will be engaging enough where students ask questions, and it will show your ability to let them think and work things out.”
“Genius,” he sighs as he looks at my colored arrows on his calendar. “I don’t know how you thought of that, but it works.”
“It’s a blessing and a curse,” you chuckle, taking the last bite of your egg roll. “But it gets the job done.”
“I’m gonna have to rewrite your letter of recommendation to include your vision for planning,” he mutters before he slurps up his lo mein noodles.
“Letter of recommendation?” you ask.
“I wanted it to be a surprise,” he says, avoiding my gaze, and you swear he is blushing. “I know that after this year, you’ll have your PhD, and it’s always good to have letters of recommendation on hand for interviews. I figured where we’ve been working closely these past few months and you’ve been such a big help, it’s the least I can do.”
“You do know I get paid to do this job, right?”
“I know. But you deserve more than the 11 bucks an hour that you get.”
“Well, I get paid 12 dollars an hour, so,” you tease. “But I really appreciate that, Professor. I really do.”
“Steve,” he says. “You’ve earned full rights to call me Steve.”
“Well, Steve,” you say, wiping the oil from the egg roll off of your fingers. “I appreciate it.”
You swallow hard, not realizing that the space between the two of you has grown very small. Your heart is beating out of control and you feel a heat spread all over your body, starting from your chest. His cologne, while not overpowering, is intoxicating and causes your mind to go in a fog.
“So, I guess I should go make photocopies of the reading for next week,” you say quietly, looking into the stunning blue orbs that are his eyes.
“Or you could stay,” he says just as softly. “We could finish everything here first.”
“But we finished grading everything,” you swallow.
“I think you know that’s not what I meant.” His fingers tuck hair behind your ear, his thumb stroking your cheek. “Is this okay?”
“Y-Yes,” you stutter.
“Would it be okay if I kissed you?” he asks, his eyelids half-closed, his nose brushing against yours.
“Oh,” you breathe. “Steve.”
“May I?”
“Yes,” you breathe, closing the distance between your bodies.
His lips are extremely soft, and his beard is not scratchy as you would have expected. He is gentle at first, but when you tug at his shirt to bring him closer, he deepens the kiss and pulls you into his lap. His hands travel down your arms before moving to your waist, gently squeezing the flesh.
You pull back and rest your forehead against his, desperately trying to catch your breath.
“Are you okay?” he asks.
“Yeah,” you smirk. “I just . . . it was a really good kiss.”
You smile at each other before you embrace again, this time more passionate and intense. Steve lifts you from his lap and sits you on his desk, blindly clearing everything off from the surface. Your fingers tangle in his hair to keep him as close to you as possible, and his fingers carefully lift at the hem of my sweater to feel the skin underneath. You whimper at the sensation, your fingers moving from his hair to his shoulders before trailing down and undoing the line of buttons that is keeping the taut fabric of his button down closed. Steve removes the sweater from your body as you finish with his buttons, your hands moving over the smooth skin of his chest. You always assumed that he was fit because, well, look at him. But the images you could have imagined do not compare to the dips and curves of how he actually feels. Steve moves his swollen lips from yours to the sweet spot on your neck, and you can’t help but let out a wanton moan that fills the office.
“Steve,” you pant as he lays you down on the desk, his body hovering over yours as he continues to trail kisses down your neck and to my chest. “Oh, Steve.”
“Feel good?” he asks between kisses before he reattaches his lips to yours. You can only moan in response and grind your pelvis against his to assert the affirmative. You feel the vibration of his laugh throughout your entire body before he creates some space to undo your jeans. His kisses begin to move down the center line of your stomach before teasing you, using his teeth to play with the hemline of your panties. You giggle blissfully at his tantalizing efforts, and he looks up with a mischievous shimmer in his eyes before kissing your sensitive core through the satin fabric. You lay your head back in bliss, weaving your fingers in his hair and holding him close, urging him to continue the work with his mouth. He catches your drift and kisses you through the material before swiftly removing both your panties and jeans off off your body.
“Mm,” he hums as he kisses your inner thighs, teasing you by avoiding where you want his lips the most.
“Ah,” you squeak as he nips at the soft flesh. You move your hands down his back, digging your fingers into the sculpted muscle.
“So needy,” he rasps, his eyes locking with mine. “I never would have guessed.”
“Everyone has their thing,” you pant, looking down at him with a playful smirk.
“Tell me where you want me,” he says, pressing a kiss on your belly button.
“Lower,” you tell him.
“Here?” he asks, kissing lower on your stomach, in line with your pubic bone.
“Lower,” you moan.
“Here?” he asks again, kissing right above where you need his mouth the most.
“Almost,” you breathe.
“Oh, you mean right here?” he asks before kissing your throbbing nub.
You throw your head back in bliss and moan. You feel Steve smile as he continues to move his mouth and tongue, and your moans of pleasure only encourage him to pick up that pace at which he works. Just when you are about to release, he moves his mouth away, and you see him wipe his chin with his thumb, licking off the juices.
“Not fair,” you pant.
“When you come,” he says, his voice deep with lust as he shoves his pants to the ground. You visibly gawk at his size. “I want it to be around my cock as I pound inside of you. Not on my face.”
He teases your thighs and the surrounding areas with his cock. You mewl in pleasure and you feel his tip play with my folds when you hear a voice in the back of your head.
“Wait,” you tell him, reaching forwards for his wrist. “Condom.”
“Condom,” he repeats, as to snap out of his lust-driven sate. “Right, condom.”
He bends down and fishes around for one in his wallet, and he lets out a sigh of disappointment.
“I don’t have one,” he says.
“Um, hand me my purse,” you tell him, pointing him in the right direction. He reaches over to the crossbody bag and hands it to you.
“I know I had one in here a few months ago . . .” you start as you undo the zipper. Right on top, you see a whole line of the tiny connected packages and a small note with familiar handwriting.
That combo of lipstick and perfume only means one thing. -Nat
You chuckle as you pull them out and show them to Steve.
“Look like you had a few more than just one,” he smirks.
“Looks like I did,” you grin, tearing one off of the line without breaking eye contact. As you move to put them back in my bag, Steve reaches forward to stop you.
“I think we’ll be needing all of those tonight,” he says before he takes them all from your hands. “Now, where were we?”
i haven’t finished by any other name yet,, and this is due to my weird thing with finishing long fics. i get so attached!! but i’m going to attempt to finish in the next few days. i just don’t want bucky and y/n’s story to be over :( the concept is so interesting and i really loved it.
I totally understand that! The good news is I’m still doing bonus one shots and such so its not over just yet!
