he is very detached from her and never around, but maids and butlers and students are commonly just sitting and watch her do . literally whatever and she doesnt really get to be alone . and when she is she’s very much neglected . despite her weird birth she’s still a girl and she wants time with her daddy even though he’s kinda mean and really weird .

but she reads a lot and she plays outside, she makes soup stews out of puddles and plays with dead animals and stabs her dolls onto sticks and parades around with them . but also she has typical child autism AND shes spoiled she has Throw Self On Floor Tantrums and screams and yells . but it does nothing . she’s had plenty of running away attempts she just gets locked in a room after

daddy is never around as i said … i think the energy in the manor is always very very like that of a cult compound from day 1 . and that its built on top of a magic hot spot a la miro talking about them that one time im too lazy to get the screenshot . and he was always practicing what very limited magic he could get his hands on . typically alll mer, and then . dark priesthood will typically give way to some sort of knowledge of gods , probably sylvian and gro goroth the fastest . i think he raises elise and has his staff on very extreme alll mer doctrine which to me equates to irl fundamentalism or other high demand religions etc . i completely agree that there is absolutely no visitors whatsoever, as well as, the only one allowed in AND out is the baron . i also think the baron is older, in his 60s around the time termina rolls around, and there’s no other surviving family outside of he and elise (who only kinda counts) . but when he finds daan its like he’s struck gold

DURING

At first the baron kinda needs to watch daan to see if this is a worthy investment so he sticks daan with the butlers in the butlers quarters and these guys . hate this kid . first day they drag him in and he reeks and is covered in fleas and dirt and every possible body fluid . they cant save his hair so they shave it all off and hes crying . all too eager to strip down and then gets very confused at the concept of Bath . kid barely talks cant read or write and at night he sleeps under his bed instead of on it . hes hoarding food cans and he wets himself and has night terrors and keeps everyone up They Cannot Stand The Kid

so rhe baron moves him Into the Manor to a spare bedroom (staff hates him MORE now. but they hate elise too because shes weird and scary and pitches fits all the time . they bond over mean staff) and elise is like . bouncing like an excited little dog she’s so so fascinated in him because he’s a boy . and he’s her age . and he’s really quiet and small . when he’s not working he hides in really tiny hideyholes . he likes the insides of cabinets . backtracking a little but for daan it was love at first sight, and he made eye contact with her in the foyer on his first day there, she was upstairs on the second floor balcony excited for the baron to get home only to see that he HAS A BOY. excited

its a lot pf elise poking and prodding and i think she’s a little mean to him! but not in like . a mean abusive way like ppl paint her, in a . she’s a kid and shes autistic and kids need to manually learn that some things Arent Nice . but she really wants to be his friend . neither of them are old enough to process daan’s trauma . to elise, the sound of naked people wearing bunny masks dancing in the meadows and doing strange things is funny . it amuses her, and its so normal to daan still too that he doesnt take offense to it, hes just really really glad that she has an interest in him

so their activities … she helps him with reading and writing because its all she does, personally . and it makes her feel smart . they play outside but elise’s scary games scare him and make him sad, so they just stick to potion making, and letting him try on elise’s fancy clothes and dresses. and they will have tea parties and elise will fantasize about the old untouched greenhouse in the corner . or she will chase him, for a bit, in a game that she likes to call Chasing Him .

her body is very very weak, and she faints, and she’s in a lot of pain often . its a good thing her new buddy can just plop on the ground next to her, whisper his strange mumbly words, and then she’s able to chase him a little bit longer .

i think it only takes a few months ? half a year ? for them to become completely attached at the hip and inseparable

DURING 2

im unsure when daanlise becomes romantic tbh! i dont think the two ever address it . i think they start kissing at 14/15, because its nice and fun to do . and it feels natural . daan cant do it for too long when he’s still a younger teen because he gets wormy and weird and upset

daan leaves with the baron now and elise is kind of miffed that the baron is letting him go to labs and morgues and do doctor stuff . she wants to be a doctor so so so bad but she cant . because of Misogyny and Being Disabled and also her dad doesnt like her

her dad loves daan too though . he wanted a daan ! he wanted an obedient assistant that doesnt ask questions . hes quiet ! keeps his mouth shut ! and his body is very very sturdy . somehow . even though he was deeply malnourished as a child and it permanently stunted his growth . its almost like theres a certain healy goddess somewhere out there being nice to him on purpose . but yes . he steals daan away from her too . and sometimes she’s back alone again but the thing is daan will try his darndest to weasel out of the baron’s grasp and doing weird questionable kinda really bad stuff with him in his office and the basement and other various rooms that are to stay locked at all times and only daan and the baron have ever been but like its whatever really . just work stuff . elise knows he’s lying but he just goes quiet when she pushes because he knows she’s too smart for this

but when he is around he will tell elise his work stories . and she will get giddy and she will know more than he does, because he still sucks at reading, so she reads his medical texts and regurgitates it to him . and he hangs onto every word she says so well that its like if He had read it . He didnt . He’s just Really Gay for a Woman

he cleans out the old greenhouse for her . even gets a little nasty and saves up his measly allowance to surprise her with tools and seeds for her birthday . she grows to love her garden dearly … she only plants vegetables , because their shapes are the strangest . it Tickles her

theyre very much so lost in their own little world and they’re looking at places to go because the manor is no place to bloom and grow and blossom and they dont want to wait for the baron to keel over . elise really really really so deeply wants to see the city , to go to ballets and the opera and window shop and go to cafes and to clubs and to hear swing and dance and sway . daan is very very adamant on getting her out of there he’ll find a way . elise finds it endearing but she has a gut feeling that its never going to happen . i think she always knew she was going to die young

AFTER

i think … the whispers were the only thing keeping elise well . i give her vagus nerve problems, fibromyalgia, and brain damage (PROJECTION) . i think without daan, both physically but also the grief, she can’t move . she tries to get to her garden but each step is so slow and her face is permanently stuck in a deep grimace and she whimpers with every move she makes . she hasnt bathed in a week and when she finally does, the bath lasts 4 hours

and daddy’s getting really really weird . he’s very quiet but also very happy . and he’s firing all the maids and butlers one by one . and elise is very worried about what will happen when they’re the only two left . eventually she’ll be offered a scribbled garbled contract where, her body SHOULD. be reformed . itll either be a painless existence, or an existence where pain is a good thing , he’s unsure yet. both. with a reformed body Surely she will be able to run away with danny, steal a bunch of money from daddy with him and run all the way to a city only 15 minutes away from the beach BUT

Until then she lays curled up on her side and does nothing but write her danny . she doesn’t want to worry him he needs to stay focused, so she praises him and lies about how her garden’s going and gives him something raunchy to turn over in his head and he’ll lay awake thinking about it and write raunchier back
