Indigo Mood-Board
I think this a better match to the color in my head and it's glorious in person. I really love the combination of Rambouillet and tussah in related shades. I think it really makes the silk pop and shine. Also, I needed to add a bit of sparkle. I guess I'll see how it spins up.
Last night I started thinking about another color experiment. I've got four braids of Rambouillet that I dyed last year, with enough top to dye another one. If I dye up five colors of tussah, I could do a five by five matrix of combinations, one ounce each.
While I love the color, this fiber is distinctly blue, not purple. So time to dye (and then card into batts) some more. The Rambouillet is cooling down in its dye bath while the tussah is presoaking to dye tomorrow. I used the same colors for the Rambouillet, but increased the violet compared to the tornado grey. I plan to use a smaller amount of violet for the tussah.
Apparently I'm in a purple yarn mood. I have a few ounces of Rambouillet and a wool/viscose tweed blend in the crock with a mix of Violet and Tornado Grey slowly cooling down (hopefully exhausting). I finished the unicorn derby yarns, so I'm spinning a couple ounces of a merino and alpaca blend (I don't know the ratio but I think it might be the Ashford blend at 70%/30%). I have another couple of ounces of World of Wool merino/alpaca blend in other colors which I will spin if I haven't finished blending the fiber currently in the dyepot.
