Bluemont. August 2024.

On a drive in the area a couple of weeks ago, I unsuccessfully tried to locate this barn. In 1976 western Loudon County was remote and rural, now it is exurban and part of the richest county in the US. Many old structures have been demolished for housing tracts, while others have been repurposed, usually as expensive houses on large lots or as equipment sheds for tax-loss, “gentlemen” farmers.

It’s almost that time of year 🤗 cozy outdoor activities and all of the scarves! Apple picking at Bluemont last year was a check off my bucket list. Stayed at Sam Moore Shelter, mile 999.9 on May 19. At 6:51 the next morning I woke up and saw this. Three and a half miles later I walked into Bluemont Virginia and pigged out at the general store.
