He makes his way across the room, grabbing one of Seto’s discarded dress shirts on his way out and slipping it on. It smells sharp, like cider after a fresh snowfall. The scent is calming, soothing, and Atem takes comfort in it as he buttons it up. 

His feet echo slightly across the hardwood floors of the mansion as he makes his way into the kitchen. It’s Thursday, the one day of the week that the cook does not come, so Atem busies himself with making breakfast for the both of them. When they first started dating, Atem had been hard pressed to see Seto in the mornings after he stayed the night, and that hadn’t changed much over the months. Atem had finally managed to convince him to at least wait until the pharaoh had woken up before leaving, but even that had been a hard fought battle that had taken lots of whining, bribery, and yelling before Seto had given in.

Atem was absolutely not the worlds greatest cook, and was usually barred from the kitchen, but he had spent many a morning after Seto had left for work with the chef, learning to perfect a few simple meals for moments like these. Eggs, he learned, were easy if you scrambled them, and tasted great if you added things like ham and cheese as they cooked. Toast was also easy. Butter both sides and fry until it was a golden colour, then just add jam and you suddenly had a filling meal. And he had long ago mastered how Seto like his coffee, and could make that blindfolded. It was by no means a gourmet breakfast, but Atem was proud of it nonetheless, and pilled it all onto a tray to take up to Seto. 

The trip back to the bedroom was a short one, and Atem set the tray on the edge of the bed before reaching over to wake Seto. “Imi-ib,” he says, gently shaking his shoulder. “Wake up, darling. I made breakfast for us.”

           Work.

      It was nearing the end for the day, but that never stopped Seto from staying late, and the like.   His phone buzzed.

           A blink.

[Txt]: Hey! Love! I know you love your work and everything but can you come home when the shift is over?  [Txt]: I want cuddles <3

              Ah -- Clarice. How precious. A small smile was on his face as he shot her a text back. He’d be sure to wrap up his work and NOT find anything extra to do. For now. For the night. Workaholic set aside, he had to go spend some much needed time with his fiance. 

       But . . .

                       One of the bodyguards opened his office door and stepped in.

Atem hadn’t always had the best life but, he tried his best to live it  and hek new that’s all his father wanted him to do. However,...probably not in the terms he was living it. It couldn’t be helped though being in his situation and being the only living person in his whole family. His mother had died giving birth to him, his father soon passed away when he was only ten years old from an illness. Life truly sucked for him in his mind and he wished he could trade it all away. The only moments he enjoyed with all of his heart were the moments he was being chased by a particular cop that had been chasing him for months

A detective by the name of Kaiba or so he had figured out from their few interactions in the year that they’ve known each other. Atem thankfully eluded the cop several times. He didn’t have the choice right now to stop what he was doing to make meats end..so, if he could keep evading the male then he’d be fine with it..at least with him he had his fun.

Today was no different.

     “Kaiba?”

 Standing just behind the opened door he wouldn’t have been surprised if it made the man jump. Would have enjoyed it. But not him, not Seto. No, of course not.

 “What’s wrong?” He cocked his head, feeling the weight of heavy hair shift to the side. How did this boy carry himself with such a mane? It would be the first to go. “You look like you saw a ghost.” The laugh he gave was genuine.

The woods were dark, almost no light able to slip in between the leaves of the trees above him despite the sun still making it’s slow descent through the sky. Atem’s breaths were ragged, coming in short gasps and he had to stop to try and catch his breath. He thought he had lost Bakura a while back, but he wasn’t certain, and he knew he couldn’t hide out in the woods all night. His paranoia was high, and he was jumping at every shadow, flinching at every sound, terrified that one of his ex’s goons was going to jump out at any second to haul him back to his old apartment, where a rather unpleasant punishment would surely be waiting for him. 

He thought he heard a sound behind him, but when he turned to look, he saw nothing but shadows and the occasional sliver of orange light from the sun setting on the horizon. He looked a moment longer, violet eyes scanning the area before he turned back and continued forward. There was a house up ahead, larger than any he had ever seen, and judging by all the well pressed suits milling about, clinking glasses of expensive champagne together, it was the host of a party, and a rather well to do one at that. Atem glanced down at his own suit, carefully inspecting the silken shirt he wore for any dirt. The jacket was a lost cause, a large tear down one sleeve, and he let it drop to the forest floor. His pants were fine, only a slight bit of dirt on the cuffs, and his heels were easy enough to quickly wipe off.

       It would have helped to know Seto’s twin was here.   Hell, it would have helped to know he even had a twin at ALL.

       Clarice had absolutely no idea Takumi was here. She had absolutely no idea who he was. (And knowing Seto he had failed to mention Clarice to his twin when he had showed up. Him and his little secrets, huh?)

    So, naturally? She assumed this was Seto sitting in that chair. Naturally, she walked right up and sat in his lap, facing him.

            “Seto, my love...” Okay. She had planned to be casual about this. Nothing fancy or over the top planned.  It was the morning anyway and she had just returned from a modeling shoot that had taken a few days to finish up.

     Carefully, she took his face into her hands and placed a kiss upon his lips, barely breaking the kiss to mumble, doing her best to contain her excitement--
