ADRIAN SHENANIGANS OH THE STORIES I COULD TELL ok so some of them are spoilers for the fic LMR which i swear i am going to hunker down and write EVENTUALLY. but adrian gets up to all kinds of things

so as a kid he just wouldn't stop doing shit. like he was always fidgeting and messing with stuff and building Contraptions. he heard the story of grace hopper (US navy admiral and computer scientist, look her up she's amazing) and immediately tried to take apart all the clocks in his house. broke all but one. not a great start

he was never really a super sociable kid but he was the one who was folding his english homework into paper airplanes and hanging them from his bedroom ceiling with string; when he was 8 he rigged up a bucket elevator in his stairwell because he didn't want to have to keep walking up and downstairs to get things

to this day he's always messing with stuff and just seeing what he can do. i'm not kidding about the escape room post either– give the man a screwdriver and he becomes 10x more dangerous

got in trouble at school exactly once and it was for setting off a bottle rocket in the parking lot on the anniversary of the moon landing

for his final project in his fourth year of college he builds a fully functional remote control plane. he spends a year and a half on it, spending late nights in the engineering lab building it and testing it in his back garden. flew it into his kitchen window multiple times

accidentally took apart his drum kit absentmindedly when he wasn't practising (easily done) and had to figure out how to put it all back together from how he remembered it

didnt like the radio in his car so he ripped it out and built a new one

learned how to fix his laptop when it broke because he didnt want to have to get used to a new one and also he hates planned obsolescence

the year he was supposed to go to college but deferred his entry to take care of his sisters he rearranged his whole bedroom. changed everything to an entirely different orientation and even though it messed him up he needed to live with it because it let him mentally reset to a before/after. changing the furniture ended up not being enough so he went out and bought wall paint and planned out an entire night sky. used a homemade projector to get it onto the wall and painted the whole thing over a few nights. constellations all labelled, distances graphed to scale, all the planets shown in elliptical orbit. it's not artistically perfect but it's scientifically accurate and he fixated HARD on it as a project until it was done and it did actually help.

he's a climber. childhood story he doesn't remember but would hear all the time is that on his first day of kindergarten the teachers tried to get him to meet all the other kids at once and he freaked out and ran away and they couldn't find him for ages until they looked up and he had. climbed onto the roof of the school to hide and they thought he couldn't get down (he could he just didn't want to) and had to call his parents to get him. they couldn't get him either and then adrian wanted to see if they would call the fire dept to come get him with a ladder (he just wanted to see the truck) so he pretended he couldn't get down and then when he found out they weren't gonna call a fire truck to get him he got bored and climbed down
