“My heart is yours”
weeping and full of weakness. Shout out to blowingoffsteam2 for literally everything my heart is feeling when it comes to these two boys. ( ͡°; ͜ʖ ͡°;)
Today must be Riku day or something hahaha. I hear what y’all are saying! The above audio is a comparison of both melodies at the point that I think is most similar between the two, followed by a piano reduction of both themes. Below is a quick transcription:
I think what everyone is hearing might be how both themes do a rising sequence with their cellos. However, I don’t think Final World’s rising line is meant to be a reference to Riku: whenever Shimomura wants to directly quote something, she always makes a point to complete the phrase (see: Yozora Secret Movie). These excerpts are very tiny musical building blocks that are probably more likely to be attributed to her compositional style rather than an overt reference: we see a similar thing in the piano in Cavern of Rememberance and Kairi’s theme, despite the two being totally unconnected. Even though the pitches are different between the two tracks, I do hear the similarity between Riku and The Final World; however, I don’t think it’s meant to be anything significant. Up to you to decide though!
Mahahahahahahahahahaha!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
AH! AH! AH!
Oh where to start?
I would love to see Riku have to dive back into Sora's heart to search and see if he can find the piece of Xehanort's heart inside him. During this search it would be awesome if Riku enters the door inside the Secret Place and inside is all of Sora's most precious memories, and as you search for Xehanort, these memories play out around Riku. If they were ever going to confirm the necklace theory too, I think this would be a really cool way of showing rather than telling.
I love love your necklace theory and this would be such a great way to show that happening in the past. I can imagine Riku walking along the beach as Sora’s heart replays the night of the meteor shower, and seeing little!Riku putting the necklace on Sora in the distance 🙏

@blowingoffsteam2 replied to your post: Yeah okay, although you can tell that, if these...
Sora doesn’t look like he has his human skin or hair at all. I think he has brown horns or something.
Hm, yeah, zoomed in like this, they look like horns, you’re right. But I think the skin color is still a pretty good match? Though it could also be just an orangey color for that yellow skin Sora sports.
Did I...hear a reference to The Pool of Sacred Tears from Kung Fu Panda in the Home of Dragons?
👀

Oh! Thank you for this fantastic analysis, I knew I had to share it when I saw it. There’s one time in Toy Box when Sora says “You really care about him” about Andy and uses Taisetsuna hito in the jpn verson. He covers his heart and looks down, like he’s thinking of something very personal (and we know he can relate, given how much he searched for Riku in kh2)
You're welcome! <3 And thank you for sharing again (as well as for that use of taisetsu na hito). I definitely remembered it got used in Toy Box, I just couldn't remember where. I feel like there was probably a usage in every world, though, I don't want anyone to actually quote me on that, because I can't say that *for certain.* The phrase got used a lot though.
