Vogue 1822 by Anne Klein II: The Work or Play Blouse
This set of blouse patterns came out in 2001 and offere a nice range of blouses, all of which would work well for a polished office work depending on what you wore with them.
The center blouse is my favorite and I have made it more than once. It has a standing shawl collar, princess seams, short sleeves, and a button front. Done up in silk dupioni as you see it here, it is an evening blouse which works with either sleep dark trousers or a soft full skirt. Done in a linen, it makes for a work blouse that has enough presence for me not to need a jacket. That version is perfect for hot summer days.
This one, like the two others, is fully lined and then you need to tack the lining two inches from the bottom edges as there is no turned up hem-- you use the body pattern pieces for the lining, and then sew the two layers right sides together, and then them through a sleeve end. You tack the layers together through the seam allowances so it doesn’t show. Because I have made this before and because I have square shoulders, I cut the armholes up higher and the sleeve pattern piece to match. The idea of higher armholes may make you think of it would be being harder to move, but actually it makes it easier.
The other sleeved version is a fitted shell again with princess seams, plus little vents, but it buttons down the back. This makes for a smooth front but makes it a pain to put on. If you can leave one button done and wiggle into it, you have an easier time getting the rest of them in the right buttonholes.
The third version is a close-fitting halter top with princess seams as well. The high neckline makes it good for office work, if done in a plain fabric, worn with a jacket or cardigan. But in a dressy fabric, it makes for evening wear as well. And you might pick a fabric that borders on dressy and take off your jacket for a dinner date after work. Overall, a flexible and well-detailed collection of blouses, the kind of work wear for which the Anne Klein brand became well known. Klein began a company under her own name in 1968, and when she died in 1974, Donna Karan and Louis Dell’Olio became the designers. Karan left in 1984 for her own brand in Dell’Olio in 1993.
Because I guess I’m not working in enough projects for me you know.
Unfortunately our post office is incredibly backed the fuck up for the forseable future. As well as being stuck at home for the next two weeks. So unfortunately I can’t get the stuff the I need to finish my other projects in this impromptu “time off”
Anyways this is a 1890s (as it says on the packaging) pattern of a very cute sailor blouse. And I got it because of the sailor neckline but also the ridiculous sleeves.

The Smock Lives, or BurdaStyle Gathered Blouse 08/2019 #102
In a print, you can’t see exactly what this blouse is doing, but take a look at the sketch and you’ll see why it reminded me of the smocks that both women and me wore when doing dirty work from painting portraits in the late 19th Century to housework through the mid-20th Century. Loose and flare, they made it easy to move and get work done. If you were ever asked to take one of your dad’s old shirts to grade school and wear it for messy art and glue projects, you have the idea. Obviously, for look of a smock that you could also wear as a lightweight jacket, you want to size up a bit. Choose a larger size than you would for a blouse, and you don’t want a soft rayon or silk, but a heavier cotton or even a mid-weight wool. And then you could add jaunty patch pockets and be ready for a brisk fall day. If you want to keep this a blouse, consider taking in the lower end of the side seams as you will have tons of fabric to tuck in at the waistline with so much flare. Or, keep the flare, consider lengthening it and wear it with leggings. In short, lots of options.
This is a good pattern for a beginner too. As the sleeves are raglan, you avoid the care you must taken when doing a set-in sleeve. This is a Burda pattern, so there are no seam allowances and you must add them to the pattern pieces after you.

Trendy Blouse Patterns to Rock Your Sequin Saree Look
The elegance and charm of a sequin saree are unmatched, making it a go-to choice for various special occasions. The shimmering sequins add a touch of glamour and glitz to the traditional Indian attire, elevating its appeal to a whole new level. However, to truly make a statement and stand out in a crowd, choosing the right blouse pattern is of paramount importance. In this blog, we'll explore some trendy blouse patterns that perfectly complement and enhance the beauty of your sequin saree look.
Off-Shoulder Extravaganza
An off-shoulder blouse is a fantastic option for those looking to showcase their neckline and collarbones while adding a contemporary twist to the traditional saree attire. When paired with a sequin saree, this pattern effortlessly merges modernity with traditional elegance, exuding confidence and style. The off-shoulder design adds a touch of allure to the overall look, making it a fabulous choice for evening parties and cocktail events.
Backless Beauty
For the bold and daring fashionistas, a backless blouse is the way to go. The beauty of a sequin saree lies not just in its shimmer but also in its drapes, and a backless blouse perfectly complements this by accentuating the back and making it a focal point. Embellish the back with intricate embroidery or add some tassels for an added touch of glamour. With this chic and sensual blouse pattern, you'll turn heads as you gracefully carry your sequin saree.
Sheer Elegance
If you want to strike the perfect balance between elegance and contemporary flair, a sheer blouse is the answer. The sheer fabric, adorned with delicate sequins or embroidery, lends a sophisticated touch to your look without overpowering the saree's brilliance. Opt for a high neckline and long sleeves for a modest yet trendy appearance, suitable for both daytime and nighttime events.
Cape Craze
Capes have been all the rage in the fashion world, and they beautifully complement the grandeur of a sequin saree. A cape blouse adds an ethereal and regal aura to your ensemble, giving you the appearance of a modern-day royal. The sheer or net fabric of the cape can be adorned with sequins or other embellishments, enhancing the overall allure of the outfit. This style is ideal for wedding receptions and red carpet events.
Halter Neck Glam
For those who wish to flaunt their toned shoulders and arms, a halter neck blouse is an excellent option. The halter neck design creates a sleek and elongated neckline while offering a contemporary and trendy touch to your sequin saree look. You can experiment with various necklines, back designs, and strap thickness to customize the blouse according to your preferences.
Peplum Perfection
Embrace the fusion of traditional and modern aesthetics with a peplum blouse. This unique pattern flatters all body types by accentuating the waistline and creating a flattering silhouette. A sequin saree paired with a peplum blouse exudes a sense of grace and fashion-forwardness, making it suitable for upscale events and festive gatherings.
Conclusion
A sequin saree is a statement piece in itself, and the right blouse pattern can elevate its charm and allure to new heights. Whether you prefer a modern twist or a fusion of contemporary and traditional designs, these trendy blouse patterns are sure to add glamour, style, and elegance to your sequin saree look. Experiment with different styles, fabrics, and embellishments to find the perfect combination that resonates with your personality and enhances your overall appearance.
