Yesterday i decided I wanted to try and make one of those dense bean salads for lunch and oh boy. I had it with a chia seed smoothie and let me tell you my tummy was not happy with me. It started bloating up and getting all swollen. I also had a fiber one bar at some point that my cousin gave me to try (bad idea). So basically my whole digestive system was overloaded with fiber and I was left with a round tummy. It was so full and hard that my tummy barely made any noise (╥‸╥). I thought sleeping would help me de bloat, I was wrong. I woke with my tummy still round and hard and I have to go to class with said tummy.
Bloated with alcohol and bread uwu

typing up psychology notes which is pretty much the only productive thing I have done today!
sorry for the terrible lighting in this, I closed my curtains so there was no glare but then it was dark in my room so I edited the video

explain how principles which define the BLOA can be demonstrated in research (8 marks)
- Define the BLOAÂ
- introduce principle 1: there are biological correlates of behaviourÂ
- supporting study: HM - MRI scans
- introduce principle 2: human behaviour is, to some extent, genetically based
Darwin’s theory of evolution, helpful characteristics are inherited. researchers often use twin studies to examine this.Â
- supporting study: Bouchard minnesota twin study
longitudinal study of over 100 sets of MZT and DZT twins reared together and apart. approximately 50 hours of psychological and physiological tests were conducted. Results showed of rIQ (measured by WAIS test) concordance rate was 69% for MZA and 88% for MZT. Enivonrmental factors do play a role in development of intelligence but IQ is to a large extent inherited. 70% of the observed variation in the sample could be attributed to genetic variation.Â
outline principles which define the BLOA (8 marks)
- Define the BLOA
physiological/biological basis to all cognitions, behaviours and emotions. Behaviour can be caused/influenced by biological factors.Â
- Introduce principle 1: there are biological correlates of behaviour
emotions and behaviours are products of anatomy and physiology, i.e. hormones, genes, neurotransmitters. These physiological processes are what forms the basis of the BLOA, in relation to how it functions and affects human behaviour in everyday life. This relates to the idea of localisation of function, each area of the brain is responsible for coordinating a certain part of our body/nervous system and thus our behaviour.Â
- supporting study: HM
Epileptic seizures when 7. Became increasingly incapacitated. Neurosurgeon, William Scoville, performed experimental surgery, when HM was 27, in order to cure the seizures. He removed tissues from the medial temporal lobe, including hippocampus on both sides. Cured epileptic seizures. Suffered from anterograde amnesia, personality and intellect remained intact. couldn't create new episodic or semantic memories. Parts of the temporal lobe were found the be removed, including the amygdala and the hippocampus.Â
- Introduce principle 2: animal research can provide insight into human behaviourÂ
Based on Darwin;s theory of evolution. Humans and many animals are different species now due to evolutionary adaptation to environmental demands. evolution is attributed as to why some animals and humans share some similar anatomy and behaviour. inferences about humans can be made from animal research.Â
- supporting study: Martinez and Kesner (1991)
explored role of Ach in memory formation, by studying rates. Rats ran maze to find food and injected with 1 of 3: (1) scopolamine - blocks Ach receptor, (2) physostigmine - breaks down Ach enzyme which breaks down Ach in synapses, (3) placebo - to help determine possible cause-effect. Group 1 took longer with most mistakes, group 2 learned faster and made less mistakes.Â
