A dog in Maine. Wallace has had some health issues for the last few weeks. He's been to ER vets and specialists. About a week and a half ago I noticed his vision was compromised and after neurology and ophthalmology consults, it was confirmed...he has lost his sight. It's a condition called SARD and dogs can literally lose their vision overnight. They don't know much about it; possibly an autoimmune disease? The good news is is not fatal. We moved through the initial devastation and now I'm taking control by educating myself on being a momma to blind dog. After a bit of fear and hesitation, Wallace is rallying. He's a smart boy and we are all adapting. His doctors said there was no reason he couldn't travel, so we are in our favorite place, learning new habits and adjusting to this new phase. #wallace #sweetboy #blinddogs (at Vinalhaven, Maine)
