She shouldn’t be surprised, deep down Amity knows this. There’s always still this naive, sad little girl part of her that hopes that maybe, just maybe her parents still have a flicker of redeeming light to them. A child’s hopeless dream, and she needs to stop setting her own up to be completely destroyed. Disappointment is all that meets her with her parents’ every new action.

Odalia had been just fine with literally killing Luz, and she’d showed no remorse. This shouldn’t shake her as much as it does…but knowing that the Emperor is planning something, some…attack on the human world, her best friend’s home, and that her Mother has been involved in this? Amity’s temper boils right over.

    Alador had to update Darius on his work again, to maintain the benefits that he received from the Abomination Coven… but said update mostly centered around Darius insulting him while still agreeing to continue providing resources.  It felt like mental whiplash, and the patience required for it was easily drained, even from someone as quiet as him.

    Thankfully it was done, and he was back home, but in short?  Alador was tired.

He’d enjoy lording this over her in the future, but for now the demon feigns sympathy. “RELAX, ODALIA. WOULDN’T WANT THE KIDS TO SEE YOU LIKE THIS, WOULD YOU?”

Odalia: You are, dear.

                         “ well,  the presentation is  your  job,  isn’t it? ”

                         alador didn’t mean to be  DRAMATIC  or anything,  but he was pretty sure that if he had to speak in front of a crowd for more than a sentence,  he would die.  he was the scientist,  odalia was the talker  --  that was how it always had been,  and alador was comfortable keeping it that way.  he turned back to the abomination he was working on,  continuing the conversation despite his shifted focus.

    At first, Alador only let out a slight hum.  He was messing around with some mechanism, what they were going to be putting inside the new Abomitons… but he was unfocused.  Just flipping the same switches over and over.  His leg was bouncing, and he couldn’t think.

    Then he stopped rather abruptly, putting it down onto the table and leaning forward.  A few moments passed and he nodded, looking over to Odalia.  “I know.”  The simplest answer.  Was it the truth?  Was he sure of that?  No, not really.  At least he was’t positive.  Odalia could do many things, it wasn’t impossibly to think she could lie to him at least once.  But it was the easiest answer.  One that would let him get back to the things he knew, the things that made sense.

The teen blinked and instinctively flinched as her Mother softly caressed her pallid cheeks. Unfortunately trauma was ingrained and may always be, even if her Mother had willingly changed. Or was trying to anyway.

The unrelenting embrace wasn’t the biggest surprise, at least not as of late. Since their ordeal her Mother had made great strides to be physically affectionate, but…this one was as if she feared she’d vanish if she let go. Amity wasn’t sure if would let her go and she nuzzled in. “M…Mom, what’s wrong?” she asked softly.

    If possible, the Golden Guard’s posture grows even more stiff when food is brought in. He’s absolutely going to kill Goldie for making him come here and ‘face his dumb fears’. It’s absolutely NOT a dumb fear that Edric might recognize his voice and realize that ‘Noel Winters, totally normal witch and taught at home by private tutors’ is actually the secret half of the Golden Guard.

    Noel can just imagine any possible love life being flushed down the tubes. Then there’s his whole ‘food issue which isn’t actually an issue everyone is just so damn nosy!’

    “Kind of you to offer, Mrs. Blight. However, I am on duty and already ate lunch.” His body doesn’t give a single damn about his lies though, and his empty stomach growls loudly once he actually smells the food.
