A couple days ago, there was a discussion of Jess’s costume/need for redesign going around and… I have conflicted thoughts about how I almost feel like a bad Jessica Drew fan for not wanting one?

I’mmmm really terribly conflicted about this. Because, unpopular opinion, I know, but I love how distinctive Jess’s costume is, and the fact that she has had it all those years without a redesign is a plus to me? I can see wanting to tweak it to make it more up to date (and less easy to draw as cheesecake), but I like that she has her single, distinctive look, as opposed to someone like, say, Monet, who’s cycled through so many costumes that she doesn’t have anything unique or identifying? I mean… maybe this is some flawed logic here, that a redesign diminishes from her distinctiveness or …memorability? of her look, because there are plenty of characters, like Carol, who went from one longstanding, distinctive outfit to a new one and it worked?? Buuut. Man I don’t know. And, yeeea, I mean I get it. Boob pockets, crotch arrow. Both very stupid and unecessary and frustrating and dumb and yeea. I REALLY REALLY DO GET THIS PROBLEM AND HOW FRUSTRATING IT IS, I DO GUYS. But I’m pretty much 100% with tremoloep there where I view that as a fault on the artists drawing Jess who make those design elements of her costume into …boob pockets or crotch arrows, rather than a fault of the costume itself? Because I actually REALLY love that weird diamonds thing for her? It’s very unique from any other heroes’ costumes and visually distinctive and I love how, you can even just draw that splash of yellow on a black and white silhouette of her and so clearly know who it is. But… yea… it really is easy and far too common for artists to draw that top triangle/diamond thing as encircling her boobs and the bottom one as pointing into her crotch and there’s no easy way to get rid of them doing that without completely eliminating that element of her design at all?

But not drinking coffe gives me headaches.
