yo i didnt forget abt this, but i spent an entire shopping trip thinking about what an unpopular opinion actually is. I don’t think such a thing really exists, to say that an opinion can be “popular” is kinda contrary to what “opinion” means. anyway here’s 3 musings

1. the yanny / laurel thing is a bit of a con, specifically engineered so that ppl hear 2 different things (rather than the dress, which is ppl seeing the same thing 2 different ways, if you get me), but is a thought-provoking example of how important sound design + engineering is. (btw, i exclusively hear yanny, even on the vids where they isolate the lower frequencies so youre only meant to hear laurel)

2. just in general, we’ve got to take a more collectivist attitude towards everything. especially education. i say this cuz my master’s project is due in today, and it’s fuckin farcical that i’m expected to do this on my own when the papers i’m citing have 3-5 co-authors

3. The State of Memes Today is awful. They are all really forced, and have been appropriated as a way to passive-aggressively get hot takes across. The actual content is oversaturated by the same goddamn labelling meme with different backgrounds, or, like, completely running a gag from The Simpsons or Spongebob into the ground that was already funny in the first place. idk. i 100% blame the accelerated meme cycle
