Introducing Juniperwhisper! A childhood friend of Redsmoke. He's rather soft spoken and good natured and often finds Redsmoke's rare prickly nature rather amusing.
SO inspired by the idea that Redsmoke was actually an ancient starclan cat reborn-- I ran with it. Putting it under a readmore cause it's _a lot_. Can you tell I've been playing a ton of dnd lately lmao??
In this wc world, there was a mythos about cats back at the dawn of the clans that were blessed by these great mythical beasts. The Unicorn, the Chimera and the elusive and unknown Phoenix.
Cats blessed with by the horn were made to be great healers, using some inate magic within the horn to convert their own life and spirit into intense healing. Tragically, that life transference lowered the life expectantly of those blessed by the horn.
Cats blessed by the claw were born with intense strength and battle prowess and were often given the role of guards and warriors. They were the ones tasked with defending the clan against threats of harrowing size (like wolves and mountain lions and other large, dangerous creatures.)
Cats...er... the cat blessed by the flame, sports a wing like pattern on his shoulders and has the ability of the Phoenix to be reborn again. In actuality-- he has an ability similar to the protag of Erased LMAO. Bit of a groundhog day situation where he has to figure out what is wrong and how to fix it before the day/moment repeats itself. No one other than him really understands the power of the Phoenix and don't really piece together the work he's done for his clan.
Fast forward to modern day. The clans are returning to their territories after the Ashen Plague hit and made the entire area unlivable. Feeling daring and adventurous, a young warrior begins to explore the barren ashen wasteland that was the Great Tree and stumbles upon what she thought was a dead petrified cat-- but was actually a living warrior! Redsmoke! How curious...

Sparkstar has been leader for many moons, part of a lineage destined to lead their Clan. The daughter of the previous leader, she was raised to bring BlazeClan to glory. Redsmoke tells the kits the tales about the old Chimera Defenders— No one thinks much of his stories of long forgotten ‘fairy tales’, though it is curious how… immersive his stories are.
I touched on the idea of those with the blessing of the Chimera but I’ve fleshed it out more!

The Chimera Defenders were warriors blessed with immense strength and power. They were the perfect warrior— strong, capable, steadfast and filled with seemingly endless stamina. It was quite easy to spot one with the Chimera’s blessing: Large, sharp saber fangs, poisonous quill like spines or large monstrous paws with claws to match. They are easily 2-3x the size of an average warrior.
They were invaluable in protecting the clans from large threats from dire wolves to mountain lions, and in some rare cases, even bears. The flip side of such might, was their uncontrollable emotions. Often, once a fight with a defender began, it took every might of the defender to exit their bloodlust. It is not a reflection of any said defender’s character for them to lose control—it is the curse that comes with such immense power. Because of this tendency, every Chimera Defender is paired with their own mediator—a cat who is close and comfortable with the defender and exudes a calming energy. They help bring the defender’s down from their rage and ground them back to reality. These cats are often paired the moment a defender’s blessing presents. It isn’t uncommon for defender’s mediators to be close family or even lovers in some case— the role of the mediator requires deep trust after all!

So I'm still fleshing them/their story out more but I got really inspired by some of the random events/dialogue that comes up in the clangen game
Wishlight and Redsmoke were 2 of my clan founders for my Blazeclan file and I hadn't expected to fall as much in love with them until they went on a patrol together and basically had the nala/simba "pined ya ;)" scene and I was sold from there
Wishlight is a loyal, forthright--sometimes rather blunt--she-cat with a prowess for fighting. It was how the two ended up bonding--Wishlight sparring with Redsmoke and helping him improve
Redsmoke is a much more level-headed, albeit ambitious, tom with his eyes set on leading the clan-- or at the very least, providing his skillset in a way that helps keep Blazeclan alive and thriving. He also has an incredibly close connection with starclan that actually ended up inspiring the story I want to explore with them. He had an interaction whilst on patrol where he was recalling ancient tales of long gone starclan warriors to his companions and it was almost as if he was there to witness such events.
So that got me thinking...
What IF Redsmoke WAS an ancient starclan cat, either reincarnated or sent to the mortal realm/Blazeclan to assist them in some great threat that is going to befall them??
Which this response is already getting way longer than anticipated so if peeps are interested I'll post some more indepth thoughts on their story as well as some doodles and other characters that would be apart of it :')
