..Also do you remember if anyone in the Clan had any teeny tiny crushes or not?

ive had this ask for a while n keep forgetting to answer but majorly i don't think Sparkstar would have ever become leader, she never really wanted to she just wanted to support Newtstar and i think Pepperflare would have been made deputy assuming we didn't have new cats by then.

Sparkstar (warrior name Sparklight) was a very fire-and-brimstone, StarClan believer type (in this universe, SOMETHING mystical is out there be leaders still get nine lives, but what it looks like is unknown to the living and interactions with spirits could be real or could be dreams, so who knows if it's StarClan). She was born during a yellowcough epidemic and was the only survivor of her litter, along with having permanent seizures, and that suffering kind of fucked her up into believing that everything has to have a reason and she has to be rewarded for said suffering. She was actually sort of a progressive beyond that but her motivations were… flawed. 

Sparkstar was a very skilled orator and very persuasive. She also had a strange… not romance romance, but definitely not NOT romantic thing with her top general Cedarscar. She did genuinely love and care about Cedarscar but she also abused her and was excessively possessive of her, so not a very good relationship :( She cared about her kids but never really took an active hand in their lives and they were distant when she died. 

Houndstar (warrior name Houndfoot) was a stable man who believed in tradition and had faith in the system. Always an astounding fighter and hunter with a highly-respected family, he thought it would be a no-brainer he’d be the next leader and had seen it as the natural career conclusion and Mark of Success for himself. A suburban man might have the ‘get a job, a wife, a house with a front lawn, and 3 kids’ checklist; for Houndfoot leadership was something similar. Surely he’d be rewarded for his hard work! So when the previous leader died and left things unclear, and the next leader could be Sparkstar and therefore not him, Houndfoot went a bit berserk.

Houndstar didn’t have Sparkstar’s oratory skill but he was the more stable leader, and when things came down to it had one or the other been selected deputy it would’ve probably been him. However he was also much more conservative and less caring than Sparkstar was. He was very involved with his sons, and would be devastated that he died before he saw them receive their warrior names. 

So yeah they would've both sucked as leader probably </3
