The beast is finished!
The quiltghan saga is thus concluded! 268 hours of work later and it’s finally done! Freshly washed and ready to be wrapped up. Plus! A bonus wrong side glimpse at my woven in yarn tails. Speaking of yarn tails…
Here’s my paper plate full of them. All approx. 1800 of ‘em 🙃
Thank you, everyone, for your kind words and encouragement! I don’t usually share my projects, let alone while they’re works in progress, but seeing the tags in my notes brought many smiles to my face. Especially on days where the work left to be done felt so daunting! I just hope my aunt loves it! (I’ll keep you posted)
Blanket Update!
Hahaha, remember when I said it would be done by Christmas? Yeah, that didn’t happen 😅 Fortunately! My aunt’s birthday is in March and this behemoth will be done then.
I sewed the motifs into panels (left) and then into quadrants (right), working in my tails as I went. (If I told you how many yarn tails I had on this project, I think we would both cry so I’ll refrain.)
Here’s everything sewn together pre-border! The dimensions right now are 6X6 square. I think it’ll cover a queen size bed nicely (pictured is a king).
I’ve vacillated between hating this project and really liking it while it was a WIP, but as it’s gotten to the end, I’m firmly in the love it camp! All that’s left now is the border, more yarn tails 🙃, and giving it a wash!
I have more progress pictures of the seaming process on my Ravelry, but I thought they might be a little confusing here.
Also! Special shout out to @hookedatweiss for calling it a quiltghan. The name has stuck!

It’s been a while since I posted something original, but that’s because I’ve been working on this blanket and it’s not that interesting. I took a break and made this watchband. This was also my first time working with beads, and I’m loving how easy and nice it is to work with them.
Blanket Update! :D featuring @whitewingedtiger 161 Stitches per row at 56 rows is about 9,000! =] (I'm working up and down) The goal is to get it to twin size. It's for a loved one that's really young. =] it's probably wishful thinking but I'd like them to grow up with this blanket. I'll need about 21 - 25 more rows for that. =] My goal is to get at least 2 rows a day done until it's finished! And hopefully I'll have extra time on my days off!
Blanket update:
Thought I'd stopped with crochet?!?!?!?! Never! I just keep forgetting to post updates. :P I had to frog like half of my progress a while back which sucked. But now I've knocked that out and then some! =] I've got 56 rows at 161 Stitches per row! I've got 9,016 stitches!!!! (a little more actually because I'm on row 57 now) I'm so stoked!!!! The finished blanket will have around 77 rows so I should be done or close to done in 21 rows! =]
