We don't get enough weak characters. Underdogs who stay underdogs. Characters who everyone underestimates, and it's for good reason. Characters who should've been side characters. Characters who save the day not because of any inherent strength or talent, but because they chose to keep working when others gave up.
I'm tired of hearing about the hero who unlocks unfathomable inner power. I'm sick of chosen ones. I'm done with people being born secretly great and just realizing their strength.
Because heroes aren't always strong or brave or exceptional. A lot of the times they're just people who wanted something and worked for it. By assigning almost godlike qualities to a character, they lose some of their humanity. I can't relate to that. Who can?
Give me weak characters. I don't want any more saviors.
